Baek-ryun, a striking woman working as a veterinarian in an animal clinic, grapples with a peculiar curse. Men smitten by her charm inevitably face near-death experiences, leading them to end their relationships abruptly. Despite her undeniable allure, Baek Ryun refrains from pursuing romantic entanglements, hoping to cross paths with a man destined to be her true love.

Baek-ryun feels extremely happy after seeing Sang-hyuk without any injury. Due to excitement she hugs and pecks a kiss on his cheek, startling him. She comes to her senses and asks about the strange man who tried to attack her to distract the scenario. Sang-hyuk says that it might be a stalker and warns her not to use such dark alleys during the night. When Baek-ryun asks why he chose to use the alley, he comes up with a lie similar to the reason she said. Both agree that they used the alley to quickly go to the nearby beef store (he lied though).

To check whether they’re meant to be, Baek-ryun asks him to tag along so she can see which shop he is going to. He chooses the other one. She thanks him for saving her and visits her friend in the other restaurant. She tells her friend about her encounter and believes he is the one. Her friend however asks her to keep her ideal type in mind while praying at the mountain for the diety might give her the wrong man. Jae-hee and his team try to find the third witness (Baek-ryun) but fail at it but Jae-hee gets a small clue.

The next day, Baek-ryun decides to get the photo of Sang-hyuk so she uses Ddaeng-chil’s medical records to make him visit the hospital. He thinks she’s trying to promote her sales and doesn’t respond properly. Nevertheless, he still visits her hospital as he’s interested in her since she doesn’t have a red thread. At the same time, Jae-hee also visits the clinic to check on Alexandra. The two have a humourous argument. After he leaves, Sang-hyuk and Baek-ryun have a moment at her cabin where she puts ointment on his face. She then asks him out for dinner.

They both visit the Love Room restaurant and he starts ordering expensive food. Remembering her best friend’s dating advice, she agrees to pay for the meal. During their conversation, he keeps asking her about the guys she has an interest in so he can shoot the arrow. She on the other hand fails at expressing her interest in him. As they leave, Sang-hyuk pays the bill and Baek-ryun misunderstands his kind act and gets mad at him. She believes he paid the bill so she won’t request another date however he simply wanted to pay for the expensive dinner since he wanted to treat her.

Back at her apartment, she decides to win his heart and make him her destiny by praying about him to the deity on the mountain. Meanwhile, he gets pissed at her for yelling at him and decides to not shoot an arrow for her. The next morning, Ddaeng-chil informs about Baek-ryun and Sang-hyuk to his fellow cupids making one of the cupids feel left out as he has never had any woman show interest in him in 500 years. We then see the parents of Jeong-ah crying to the detective as the killer hasn’t yet been found.

On the mountain, Sang-hyuk remembers Jeong-ah and regrets not listening to the warning as he believes he is the cause of her death. At the same time, Baek-ryun finishes her prayer and comes down the mountain thinking about Sang-hyuk and a way to get his picture. She sees him and gets excited. She immediately makes him pose for a picture and clicks a photo. Sang-hyuk then asks her to delete the photo as he’s not aware of the reason. When he tries to grab her phone, the couple accidentally kiss. This creates an awkward situation between them, leading them to spend the evening drinking rice wine.

Over there, she discusses her visit to the mountain seeking forgiveness for something she did in her past life. He also shares about the warning he received to not fall in love and the consequences he faced for that. Though he doesn’t explain about Jeong-ah or his curse, he gives a cryptic statement. When the two wind up their night and decide to go back home, the valet parker comes to assist. Sang-hyuk notices the scar on that man’s hands and remembers the night Baek-ryun was stalked. He immediately pushes the valet parker and questions him about the night and that episode ends.

My Man is Cupid Episode 4 Review

The third episode set the base for the answers that we will receive in future episodes. We’re yet to see how Jae-hee and his team will find Baek-ryun, the killer, and whether there is a connection between Jeong-ah and Eun-seo’s case, given it has been 29 years since the former’s death. There’s more to Sang-hyuk and the other cupids’ curse which we will learn about soon.

Baek-ryun is super invested in Sang-hyuk and it’s nice to see how much effort she is putting into getting him while he tries to refrain from her because of what happened to Jeong-ah. He is still unaware of the fact that she is the reincarnation of the court lady so when he finds out, the way he’ll pursue her will be interesting. However, if she finds out about what she did in her past life (which even we’re yet to know) she might try to stay away from Sang-hyuk to not cause him pain.
