The episode starts with Sang-hyuk on top of a building aiming his sniper at a man coming out of a restaurant after a date with a woman. He shoots the man and we understand that it is the advanced cupid arrow and the couple instantly falls in love. Back at his place, we see three other fellow cupids, one transformed into a dog bickering with each other. During dinner, one of the cupids yells at fellow cupid Dong-gu for not properly shooting cupid arrows as it tends to reduce the gold tint in their arrow which will allow them to return to their normal lives.
During the argument, they immediately turn to Sang-hyuk and a flashback is shown. 500 years ago, when Dong-gil aimed his arrow and shot it at Sang-hyuk, it missed. Just then, Sang-hyuk ran towards the court lady who was about to get hit by real arrows and he protected her, taking in all the arrows in his back. This ultimately burned all the cupids’ wings and since Dong-gil shot the arrow, he was transformed into a dog. With this, it’s understood that until they make their arrow get back its golden colour, their wings will remain burned.

Later that night, two cupids discuss the court lady and believe that she would have been reborn again and again in different forms as well. With that, the scene cuts to the next morning where we’re shown Baek-ryun, a veterinarian being proposed by Mr. Andre. Her staff discuss her backstory of how every man she dates immediately gets hurt violently. Due to this she has stopped dating and has been feeling lonely ever since. We also learn that she is an orphan.
The scene moves to Baek-ryun on top of a mountain asking for forgiveness to a deity. Another flashback is shown when Baek-ryun and her friend visit a tarot reader who tells her that in her past life, she committed a sin and that she has to seek forgiveness in the mountain for 1000 days so that she will meet the man who will change her future. It’s evident that Baek-ryun is the court lady’s re-incarnation. That day at the mountain she comes across Sang-hyuk and wonders why he looks prettier than her. Sang-hyuk is seen holding a bouquet of flowers and standing at the hilltop, lost in thoughts.

Sang-hyuk and his fellow cupids are taken care of by a person whose ancestors have passed down the job to each generation since they know the identity of these cupids. That night after finishing his work, Sang-hyuk prepares to leave but sees a car parked in front of his. He checks the nearby restaurant and meets the drunk Baek-ryun. She calls him “honey” and collapses on the floor. The restaurant owner assumes him as the young lady’s boyfriend and asks him to pay the bill and take her. He carries her and also finds the car owner so he can move the car in front of him.
Sang-hyuk drops Baek-ryun at the police station and she wakes up the next day wondering why would a man drop her here. The same day, Sang-hyuk receives a call regarding Jeong-ah. We learn that the cops have found the corpse of the missing woman case of 1993. Sang-hyuk rushes to the police station to see the remains of Jeong-ah, the woman he loved. Apparently she was kidnapped and was buried in the mountain that Sang-hyuk used to visit. He breaks down looking at the pit where she was buried.

That evening Baek-ryun returns to the same restaurant and learns about last night and wonders who the mysterious man is. She befriends a woman that night and they depart after spending a good time discussing about fate and love. However, we see someone looking at the woman from a distance and it’s unsure whether she left for her home safely.
The next day, Baek-ryun’s staff gives her a ticket to the cupid exhibition (previously Sang-hyuk also received one from his carer). That evening Baek-ryun and Sang-hyuk meet and remember the night he took her to the police station. Baek-ryun cusses the cupids for not giving her a love story. Sang-hyuk scans her and finds that she doesn’t have a red thread connected to her. As he stares at her, she comes closer to him and requests him not to fall for her for he might get hurt. He says that he would not fall for her. She then starts to smell him as she finds his odour nice and the two have a strong eye contact.

The first episode had all the necessary base and background that set the tone for the upcoming episodes. We were shown the past and the reasons why the main leads are living such an isolated life. Seems like there’s also a killer on the loose who we will soon find out. The cast is really good, the cupids especially make the episode feel warm and comedic. The storyline is adorable, of course, intriguing. Definitely waiting to see what more secrets the cupids hold.
