Cheon Sang-hyuk, a charming fairy renowned for his ability to enchant women and men, endured a tragic event 500 years ago when his wings were scorched. In a quest for wing restoration, he underwent 27 transformative experiences. However, his 28th attempt becomes entangled with the life of Oh Baek-ryun.
Baek-ryun, a striking woman working as a veterinarian in an animal clinic, grapples with a peculiar curse. Men smitten by her charm inevitably face near-death experiences, leading them to end their relationships abruptly. Despite her undeniable allure, Baek Ryun refrains from pursuing romantic entanglements, hoping to cross paths with a man destined to be her true love.
The news channels announce the case of Eun-seo, a 40-year-old nurse missing. She is none other than the woman Baek-ryun befriended the previous night. Detective Seo Jae-hee takes over the case and starts to find all possible culprits. They find out about Eun-seo’s affair with another married man and also find footage of Sang-hyuk standing on top of someone’s car, aiming a gun (the cupid gun). They also learn about Baek-ryun’s relationship with Eun-seo but the police do not know her name or identity, but just know that a woman was last seen with Eun-seo.
Back to the Cupid exhibition scene, Sang-hyuk stops Baek-ryun from smelling him and this makes her realise that her heart’s beating rapidly for him for the first time. As she leaves for home, she gets a call from her clinic regarding an emergency. Sang-hyuk follows her and finds her clinic right opposite Poppy’s clinic where he brings in Dong-chil often. At her clinic, she treats a dog without knowing who the owners are as she believes that she must first save the life rather than expect money from the owners. She happily goes home and thinks about Sang-hyuk.
Sang-hyuk wonders how she doesn’t have a red thread attached to her. He dreams of her calling him Mr. Superman and getting closer to her. He wakes up in the morning to find Dong-chil returning to his human form. Meanwhile, that same night, Jae-hee arrests Eun-seo’s lover for murdering her. However, with all the details he gives, they understand that he isn’t the killer but rather someone else. Apparently, in this case, there are three witnesses—the restaurant owner, a passerby, and Baek-ryun. Since the cops don’t yet know about Baek-ryun they manage with the other two witnesses’ help.
The next day, the detectives start searching the mountain to see if Eun-seo’s corpse is found. Jae-hee learns of his superior’s death and visits the funeral. He also learns that their pet dog was in the car during the accident but survived. He finds the clinic where the pet is admitted and visits it. Over there, he falls in love with Baek-ryun the moment he sees her. The dog she treated the previous night belongs to the superiors who passed away. On the same day, Dong-chil returns to his dog form before he can kiss Mi-ja, the woman he dates. This upsets him and so Sang-hyuk takes Dong-chil to Baek-ryun’s pet clinic.
Baek-ryun is already lost in Sang-hyuk’s thoughts as she feels that his odour is similar to the blossom trees she used to lie under at her orphanage. When she sees Sang-hyuk at her clinic she feels happy. Before that, Sang-hyuk and Jae-hee look at each other. Sang-hyuk recognises Jae-hee since he is the reincarnation of the king 500 years ago however Jae-hee simply stares at him as he finds him handsome.
Baek-ryun then gets a call regarding the pet’s owner’s death and wonders what to do next. Jae-hee says that he will adopt the pet. During their conversation, Jae-hee flirts with Baek-ryun and convinces her to give him the pet dog, Alexandra, as he believes he should take care of his superiors’ pet. After Jae-hee leaves, Sang-hyuk comes into Baek-ryun’s cabin and starts getting mad at her for smiling at Jae-hee. He starts acting quite jealously making Baek-ryun wonder why he’s furious.
Back at the mountain, the killer visits the restaurant and sets the place on fire. Jae-hee receives a call regarding this and he rushes to her restaurant only to find the owner lady dead. At the same time, they also receive the information of the other witness’ death. This upsets the cops as they understand the witnesses died on the same day, meaning the killer is now going for the third mysterious witness.
Sang-hyuk waits outside Baek-ryun’s hospital as he has left Dong-chil for grooming so he can watch over Baek-ryun. Baek-ryun’s shift ends and she proceeds to walk down the alley. The killer runs behind her to murder her but thankfully Sang-hyuk saves her. The killer runs away leaving the two alone. Baek-ryun finds that Sanghyuk isn’t hurt and is shocked as he is the first guy in her life to not get hurt for being beside her.
My Man is Cupid Episode 2 Review
The second episode was really good, given it has now shown the third main character Jae-hee, his attraction towards Baek-ryun, the serial killer, and his motive to kill Baek-ryun. With all this going around, the comedy scenes made sure the sensitive topic wasn’t affecting too much. The episode had a good balance of romance, humour, and thriller. So far the series is doing really good and is very joyful to watch. The characters are written well, the cast is good and the main leads’ chemistry is working out well!
