Flex X Cop 2024 K Drama Episode 12

Episode 12 of Flex X Cop starts with I-soo distracting the guard, pretending he got lost and looking for the kitchen to give Gang-hyun enough time to escape. The counsellor is still suspicious of Gang-hyun and lurks around until she returns. I-soo finds a way to send the fingerprints Gang-hyun gave to his assistant, who takes them to the crime unit the following morning. Team 1 and Team 2 are working in perfect collaboration, sharing information about the cases, and together, they find out that the fingerprints indicate that Bori (not his real name) was convicted of fraud. Meanwhile, Bori’s right-hand man asks for the list of new members from the counsellor. Reporter Gi-seok receives an email from his subordinate Jung-yeon informing him that she is digging into the Oryun Community and almost has a clue. 

At the same time, television news reports about the death of Seon-wook and Gang-hyun’s mother and father see it. In retrospect, we are taken back to what happened on the day that Gang-hyun’s father was arrested on claims that he received a bribe. Gang-hyun’s mother arrives home and finds Seon-wook at the door. When she asks who he is looking for, he says he got the wrong house.

The mother sees a package without a sender’s name at the gate and takes it into the house. She calls her husband, who is heading to the conference room to update the press on the mass suicide case, and she asks her if he will look into the package later. The police storm into their house with a search warrant, and they find the money in the package Gang-hyun’s mother found at the gate.

Back in the present, Gang-hyun’s mother and father are confident that she is looking into the case, and they are afraid something might happen to her. On the way, her father leaves the house and thinks back to the day he was arrested after they found the stack of money in his home. He knew that the Captain had made up the story about the bribe and said he would continue to investigate until he caught the mastermind, but the Captain threatened him by roping gang-hyun into the allegations. Therefore, Gang-hyun’s father chose to resign to protect Gang-hyun. Mr Lee visits Chief Park’s office, and when he refuses to share information about the case, he asks him to protect Gang-hyun. On the way out, he runs into Jun-young, who informs him that Gang-hyun might investigate the Oryun community undercover. 

Meanwhile, the counsellor reveals herself to Gang-hyun as the reporter from SBC, who is also investigating the case since many people have died due to the Oryun cult. The two leaders of the cult, Shim Woo-hyuk and Lee Seong-wook, met while working for the pyramid scheme company and used the skills they learned to lure in unsuspecting young people with the lie that they have found the truth to rebirth after a severe car accident. The young people volunteer at nursing homes and offer the patients on the verge of death a tea that is drugged, making them addicted. They then choose a target from the unsuspecting patients, mostly someone rich, and they deceive them into donating all their wealth to the community for a chance of rebirth. They give the patients a pill and take the money after their death. 

Gang-hyun’s roommate is excited about getting an answer from Bori, and Gang-hyun learns from the reporter that getting an answer means Bori will kill them. Gang Hyun wants to stay and save the unsuspecting victims, but reporter Jung-yeon tells her that Bori knows that she is at the centre but has managed to hide her file. Gang-hyun wonders how he knows when she uses a fake name, and Jung-yeon tells her that Bori has connections everywhere.

The detectives discover exciting twists in the Oryun Community. Seon-wook and Bori were inside the car that the truck driver hit, but the man stubbed by the pipe died on the spot. Bori and Seon-wook were sent to the same hospital due to minor injuries after the accident. Detective Ahn finds out that Bori intends to leave the country after his plastic surgery and has transferred all the money from the GY Community Center to his overseas account. They decipher that the reason Seon-wook and Dong-su were killed is because they found out about his plan to escape with all the money they have scammed people for years, and more so, Gang-hyun and I-soo are in danger. Jung-young and Kyung-jin revisit Seon-wook’s wife with the new information to convince her to agree to an autopsy. 

Meanwhile, Bori figured out that Jung-yeon had removed Gang-hyun’s file from the list and asked his assistant to bring her to his office. Gang-hyun hears the commotion and sees the man carry Jung-yeon out. She loses her disguise and decides to confront Bori and his men. The men easily let her into the house since they know Bori is waiting for her, and many men are ready to take her down. I-soo joins the first, but Bori’s men knock them down after a fierce fight. When they get back, Bori confesses all the illegal things he has done, including killing people. 

Bori is sure the police will not come to their rescue since he has control of the police Captain. I-soo tells him he has a state-of-the-art invisible drone, the latest invention of Hansu Industries, hovering above them, and the police are on their way. While Bori thinks that I-soo is bluffing, the next scene shows the drone and how it scanned the fingerprints that Jeong-hun took to the police. Bori suddenly pushes a button inside a drawer at his desk, and the floor opens up. Gang-hyun and I-soo fall into a water tank, and Bori closes it. Water fills the tank, and Gang-hyun starts to panic since she cannot swim. 

Elsewhere, Jeong-hun takes clips taken by the drone to the police station, and the detectives decide to act regardless of not having enough evidence. They head to the GY Community Center with reporters to arrest Bori and other key members of the Oryun Community. Meanwhile, Bori and his right-hand man get into the car, but the police arrive before they leave the community centre. Jung-young and Kyung-jin rush into Bori’s office to look for Gang-hyun and I-soo. They first rescue Jung-yeon and almost miss the detectives, but Jun-young hears I-soo knocking on the floor from underneath since gang-hyun has already passed out. They find the pipes and shoot them to drain the water. Jun-young confronts Bori and finds the button’s location, which opens the underground tank. 

The detective finally opens the tank while Gang-hyun regains consciousness. Detective An gives Gang-hyun the satisfaction of handcuffing Bori and telling him his rights. Ji-won finds USB storage in Seon-wook’s stomach, which contains proof of their wrongdoings and a video of the Captain receiving bribes. She takes the USB to Chief Park, reminds him she knows what is inside, and has made a copy just in case. After watching going through the files, Chief Park arrests the Police Captain. 

Jun-young invites I-soo for a drink after the arrest, and he thanks him because they were able to arrest Shin Woo-hyuk due to his reckless and ridiculous strategies. I-soo asks whether Jun-young and Gang-hyun have dated or have feelings for each other since he saw them hugging after the rescue. Jun-young assures him they are best friends who have known each other for over ten years since the police academy. Moreover, Jun-young already has someone he likes. I-soo wishes that someday he would become Gang-hyun’s close friend, too. 

To atone for the injustice suffered by Gang-hyun’s father, the police appointed him as the new superintendent to take over after the arrest of the police captain. At the end of the episode, a wounded man arrives at Jin Myeong-chul’s house, climbs over the gate, and falls to his death. 

The Episode Review

The investigation into the Oryun Community has been the most thrilling yet, and the ending is immensely satisfying. Gang-hyun clears her father’s name, and he gets appointed to be the new Police Superintendent. Seeing the happiness on their faces and Gang-hyun’s mother’s tears of joy makes the build-up and the development of the narrative worth the wait.

The end of the episode hints at yet another exciting investigation to look forward to, and this time it relates to I-soo’s family. Who is the man who falls to his death at his father’s mansion? Is it connected to the upcoming elections? This episode shows a development in the estranged father-son relationship as I-soo’s father gives him a call to check up on him and asks him to take care of himself.
