Jin I-soo, born into a third-generation conglomerate, enjoys a life of abundance, devoid of the need for assistance from others. His world takes an unexpected turn when he becomes embroiled in a complex case. Driven by the desire for a new challenge, Jin I-soo makes a surprising decision.
Opting to immerse himself in the gritty world of crime-solving, Jin I-soo joins the Kangha Police Station’s violent investigative team, specialists in apprehending robbers. His motivation is to leverage his wealth and personal connections to make a difference in the field. In this venture, he partners with Detective Lee Gang-hyun, a dedicated and adept investigator known for his smooth-talking skills.
Despite I-soo’s affluent background, Gang-hyun remains indifferent to his presence, setting the stage for a compelling partnership rooted in the pursuit of solving crimes and bringing perpetrators to justice. As they delve into the intricacies of their work, the narrative promises a blend of wealth, intrigue, and the challenges inherent in the world of criminal investigation.
Kang-hyun remembers the CPR and the agony I-soo went through when she was unconscious, making her blush. The cops receive information about a corpse and upon arriving at the location, I-soo says that it is his father’s home. Kang-hyun asks I-soo’s stepmother whether she knows the dead man but she simply cuts them and asks them to leave. Seung-ju arrives and comforts his mother. He also says that he has no idea about the man but when the cops leave, his face says something else.
News breaks out around and I-soo’s father is standing for the elections and this news makes it hard for his chances to get the votes. Kyung-jin finds out the identity of the dead man as Daechoon, a businessman and they meet up with the deceased family. Daechoon’s wife says that his husband disappeared six months away and she assumed he’d be dead as he fell into the gambling pit after his businesses failed.
In the autopsy report, they find that he was strangled and then stabbed. However, he drove with a stabbed wound to I-soo’s father’s home and fell to death. After some investigation via the dashcams, they find a suspect, a gambling expert Hwang-sik. Upon arresting him, they learn that he didn’t kill Daechoon but witnessed him getting stabbed by some men. Kyung-jin arrives with the call logs of Daechoon, surprising them all as the last call he made before he died was to Seung-ju.
I-soo meets with Seung-ju and asks about Dae-choon to which he says that during their father’s biography release party, he came and gave the business card. When I-soo leaves, we see Seung-ju reminiscing about the man asking to talk in private with him. News about I-soo being the illegitimate son starts going around causing him distress. Apparently, the news was released by the opposition party’s head Jongtae. Kang-hyun tries her best to help him get rid of the stress but he completely feels lost.
The next day, they find the final suspect and he seems to be the one who killed Daechoon. Joon-young, Kang-hyun and I-soo follow him and go to an abandoned place. I-soo starts chasing a man in a hoodie while the two cops arrest the killer. Kang-hyun opens the car’s trunk to find a woman bruised. When I-soo arrests the hoodie man, he is shocked to see that it is his brother, Seung-ju.
I don’t think Seung-ju is a bad person because from the looks of it, it’s evident that there’s something more to the story. His mother seems to have had an affair before and by using this information, Daechoon has decided to get money and get rid of his loan issues. On finding this, probably Seung-ju decided to save his mother. However, did he really arrange an assassination? That we’re yet to find.
I-soo is learning more and more dirty truths about his family and at the cost of everything, he’s suffering. Kang-hyun is caught up between her family, work and her personal feelings, and she’s still unable to allow herself to like I-soo despite actually having thoughts about him. Maybe in the next episode, something strong will happen in their relationship.
