NewJeans has just achieved an amazing feat on Korea’s biggest music streaming service!
On April 2, NewJeans’ agency ADOR announced that the rookie girl group had swept the top three spots on Melon’s monthly chart for March. For the third consecutive month, their smash hit “Ditto” remained No. 1 on the chart, while “OMG” and “Hype Boy” held steady at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively.
As NewJeans held onto the top three spots on Melon’s monthly chart for January, February, and March, they managed to dominate the entire first quarter of 2023—making them the first artist in the history of the streaming service to secure the top three spots for three months.
ADOR commented, “This is the first time since digital music service Melon was launched in November 2004 that one artist has swept the chart’s top spots for three months, without any distinction between their new songs and old songs.”
“Ditto” also spent 99 days at No. 1 on Melon’s daily chart following its release, overtaking BTS‘s “Dynamite” to set a new record for the song with the most days at No. 1 in the history of the chart. (The daily chart was first launched in January 2014.)
Additionally, “Ditto” currently holds the record for the most weeks at No. 1 on Melon’s weekly chart, having topped the chart for 14 consecutive weeks.
Congratulations to NewJeans on another historic achievement!
