BTS’s Jimin has made history on the Billboard 200 with his solo debut!
On April 2 local time, Billboard announced that Jimin had entered its Top 200 Albums chart (its weekly ranking of the most popular albums in the United States) for the very first time as a solo artist.
Jimin’s first solo album “FACE” has entered the Billboard 200 at No. 2, making him the first Korean solo artist in history to reach the top 2 of the chart.
Additionally, Jimin has achieved the highest-ranking solo debut on the Billboard 200 since Olivia Rodrigo, whose first chart entry (“Sour”) debuted at No. 1.
According to Luminate (formerly Nielsen Music), “FACE” earned a total of 164,000 equivalent album units during the week ending on March 30. The album’s total score consisted of 124,000 traditional album sales—marking the biggest U.S. sales week for a solo artist in 2023, as well as the third-biggest overall—and 13,500 streaming equivalent album (SEA) units, which translates to 19.51 million on-demand audio streams over the course of the week.
“FACE” also racked up 26,500 track equivalent album (TEA) units in its first week, marking the largest single-week TEA figure for any album since Taylor Swift’s “Midnights” on the November 19, 2022 chart.
Congratulations to Jimin on his historic Billboard 200 debut!
