Flex X Cop 2024 K Drama Episode 6

Episode 6 of Flex X Cop starts with a rundown of how the serial killers killed the latest victim. They are meticulous and wipe the scene clean so that the police cannot find their fingerprints. Team 2 confronts Team 1 for re-investigating their case, but the supervisor stops the confrontation, calling both team leaders into his office. He asks Team 2 to hand over the case materials to Team 1. 

Investigating the serial killers of the elderly is becoming futile as every avenue that Gang-hyun chooses to follow hits a dead end. I-soo plans to chase the seal using his influence as a wealthy Chaebol heir to place an ad on the dark web for it. The suspects take the bait, ask for one billion in payment, and the auction process happens anonymously at a club.

The team hit a block since they can’t put together one billion quickly, but I-soo surprised them when he made the bank open up its operation late at night to allow the withdrawal from his bank account. His reach extends even to the retail sector since he gets a clothes merchant to open up her shop at night to give Gang-hyun a makeover so she can enter the club. As they wait for the auction, I-soo tries to get Gang-hyun to loosen up by teaching her how to dance, and they talk about her hobbies. I-soo looks at her in awe as she excitedly explains how catching criminals is her favourite hobby.

The elevator doors open, signalling to them that it is time to complete the transaction. Jun-young poses as I-soo’s secretary, bringing the money bags with the tracker inside. Afterwards, the team waits outside for the trackers to move, but they are duped. The killers escape with the money, and they leave no clues since they are careful not to get captured by the CCTV cameras and they use a stolen vehicle. The team hits another dead end, and Team 2 is excited to rub it in their faces. Meanwhile, Team 2 is conducting a parallel investigation to catch the killers before Team 1. 

I-soo comes up with another idea to trap the killers by staging an operation. He will place an ad for a rare item on the dark web, and they find an elderly person who can react swiftly in a dangerous situation to pose as the item’s owner.

Gang-hyun asks her father for help, but he first refuses, saying he is not a police officer but a civilian, which upsets her since she will not fight back against the false accusations that made him get suspended. However, after I-soo ensures that the killers take the bait, they manage to convince him, and I-so prepares a free all-expense travel voucher for Gang-hyun’s mother to get her out of the house. The operation to catch the notorious killers officially begins. 

Team 1 stakes out Gang-hyun’s house in I-soo’s house for days before the killers eventually show up, posing as photographers as usual. This time, they intend to finish up everything the same day as they start staging the operation to kill Gang-hyun’s father. However, Gang-hyun is quick to react, and her father fights back unexpectedly, surprising the killers. When the team storms into the house since Gang-hyun’s father left the front door open, they are forced to put down their guns since they hold a knife and a syringe of narcotics at his neck. However, I-soo comes in from the backdoor and changes the situation, allowing the team to fight back and arrest the suspects. 

The supervisor applauds Gang-hyun on their excellent work while the leader of team 2 is set to receive a punishment for mishandling the first two cases because the victim’s family launched a complaint against him. Gang-hyun chooses to help the superior by allowing him to share the responsibility for closing the case and asking him to deliver the press report. She does not do him a favour but says it will be a bribe to ensure he agrees to help her whenever she asks. 

I-soo’s friend calls him, saying it is an emergency, but it just happens that he has planned a meeting with I-soo’s favourite actress since they are working together on his upcoming project. I-soo is not excited about the meeting and takes off as soon as Gang-hyun texts asking him to join the team dinner. The rest of the team has opened up and is treating I-soo as a member of Team 1, but Jun-young is still reluctant. I-soo and Gang-hyun arrived home later that evening, and Gang-hyun verbally acknowledged I-soo’s good work before entering their homes. 

I-soo walks into his house to find his father waiting inside and asks him to move from the home to a new one he will buy. I-soo refuses the offer, mentioning that his father is uncomfortable about people finding out that his illegitimate son from the woman he kicked out is living at his mother’s house. His father reminds him that even though the house has nothing to do with the Hansu group, I-soo is still his son, and his current job is courtesy of him. I-soo does not deny that fact but instead tells his father that he will continue to use Hansu Group’s influence and resources to solve cases, and his father can consider it as compensation for his father using him to win the upcoming elections. On the way home, I-soo’s father smiles, seemingly happy about the outcome of the conversation between father and son. 

Reporter Gi-seok continues to build up I-soo’s image by covering the ceremony of donating the Korean seal from the Joseon dynasty recovered during the serial killer’s arrest, referring to I-soo as the noblesse oblige. His father and brother watched the broadcast, and from the look on their faces, they were proud of I-soo. The episode ends with the team arriving at a high-end office space to start investigating the new murder case of a man found dead in one of the offices.

The Episode Review

The episode highlights I-soo’s character development from an influencer to a responsible police officer. He no longer acts independently but reports to Gang-hyun and works efficiently with the team. Team 1 continues to enjoy working with a Chaebol, witnessing how no doors are ever closed for the wealthy.

There are hints about something more regarding the death of I-soo’s mother from the flashback that Gang-hyun’s father had in the previous episode and the politician who intends to use the accident to crash I-soo’s father during the elections. Somehow, the father-and-son relationship seems to be improving as his father no longer refuses to use him to increase his popularity in the polls.

The team dynamics have improved, earning themselves the title of Guardians of Gangha at the end of the episode. However, despite the exciting episodes, they are becoming quite predictable, especially in handling the case for Team 1. Therefore, in the upcoming episodes, I look forward to seeing an increase in the complexities of closing the murder cases, forcing the team to work together more rather than depend on I-soo’s lucky breaks.
