Episode 11 of Captivating The King begins with Mong-woo telling King Lee In about the princess swap. As Myung-ha worries for her, he runs into Hyun-bo who hints that they know about Maid Bun-yeong replacing Princess Jangryeong.
The King is furious on learning he has been deceived and Mong-woo adds that Park found out when a court lady informed Queen Dowager of Bun-yeong’s absence. Lee In threatens Mong-woo but she is confident that he won’t hurt her because of the love they share. This stops him and she adds that Interpreter Jung never saw the real princess so they are in the clear.
As for Principal Director Park Jong-hwan, he personally intercepts the bridal convoy but Bun-yeong doesn’t let him see her face. But he realises that she is fake as the real princess would never hide her face.
He gleefully tells the King hoping it will be enough to arrest Mong-woo, Myung-ha and Grand Prince Munseong. He claims that Interpreter Jung knows and Lee In calls Mong-woo to testify. Turns out, she had witnessed Jung meeting with the “Princess” and giving his approval. With the King covering up the princess swap, Park is furious. He threatens to take the matter to Prince Rui but Lee In pulls the king card and hints at execution if anyone finds out the truth.
Meanwhile, Sang-hwa tells Myung-ha and Eunuch Kim to keep quiet if they value their lives. An annoyed Queen Dowager tries to find out from Lady Dong but she refuses…unless she gets something in return.
Annoyed that the King covered up the matter, Hyun-bo decides to fabricate evidence that Mong-woo, Myung-ha and Munseong are conspiring to take Lee In down. Meanwhile, the King orders the Chief Royal Secretary to help find a safe house for Princess Jangryeong in Beijing. He then plays baduk with Grand Prince Munseong and teaches him how to govern peacefully. The Prince tears up as he apologises for deceiving Lee In to protect his sister.
To sow further discord, Park tells Mong-woo that he wanted to save him during the ascension but the King sacrificed him for the sake of the throne. He adds that like the King abandoned Kang Hang-soon (Hee-soo’s father), he will abandon Mong-woo as well when it suits him.
On her way home, she sees royal guards watching her. She trips and Lee In catches her. He assures her that both Bun-yeong and the Princess are taken care of. He is also sad that he hurt Mong-woo and will keep doing so as it seems to be the hazard of being a king. However, he loves her and will explain it all to her one day. He asks if she will stay by his side.
As she walks home in a daze, Dal-ha confronts her. He wonders if she is having doubts as she claims that the King may have his reasons. Dal-ha points out how Lee In sold him to Qing, and betrayed her and her father as well. He wants to kill Lee In but she asks for more time.
As part of their plan, they get Kim Je-nam to court and the King appoints him Inspector General. But this causes a change of heart and Je-nam backs out from Hee-soo’s plan to put Munseong on the throne. He reasons that Lee In is no puppet but a kind man. Hee-soo is not deterred as she tells Myung-ha and Dal-ha that they will make a move when Park tries to steal the throne.
Elsewhere, Munseong keeps a sickly Queen Oh company and she feels bad. She asks Mong-woo how she can help and Mong-woo suggests that they need to make him the Crown Prince or he will be killed.
At the end of Captivating The King Episode 11, Mong-woo goes to Lee In as she has her answer – she will be by his side and they hug. Suddenly lightning and thunder strike and a fire starts at the palace.
Captivating The King Episode 11 keeps the drama going and there doesn’t seem to be a single dull moment in this chapter. Now that the princess switch has been resolved, there is a new conflict in town. Hyun-bo and Park are desperate enough to fabricate a crime. Even Mong-woo is not sitting back or letting her feelings come in the way.
Though, we do wonder what will happen to our lead couple once Lee In realises that Mong-woo has been plotting against him. There have been secrets in their relationship from Day 1 and this doesn’t bode well for them. While we thought Myung-ha might mess things up for them, it seems Dal-ha might be the one to ruin their relationship if he decides to take matters into his own hands.
