Wonderful World 2024 K Drama Episode 8

Episode 8 of Wonderful World starts with Seon-yul and Soo-hyun at the restaurant where they talk about Ji-woong’s murder. Soo-hyun does not reveal to Seon-yul that she knows who he is but tries to explain how she killed her son’s murderer after losing Gun-woo unfairly. Soo-hyun attempts to show Seon-yul why she did what she did while Seon-yul thinks about how he lost his father and suffered for years.

The episode then jumps to Soo-hyun inviting Soo-ho’s mother for a physiotherapy appointment where she has also taken her mother. Soo-ho tells his mum that Soo-hyun arranged the session for both their mothers. Soo-ho and his mother chat about Soo-hyun after the session and he states that he is happy with his wife.

On their drive back home, Soo-ho thanks Soo-hyun for treating his mother well. Meanwhile, Seon-yul thinks about his conversation with Soo-hyun as he practices kickboxing. Soo-jin finds him gasping for breath after being exhausted from training and worries he will pass out. Seon-yul tells her that he is willing to go as far as ending his own life in his efforts to seek revenge on Soo-hyun.

He adds that he’s adamant about ruining her life as well. A flashback shows Seon-yul taking photos of Soo-ho having an affair and also manages to capture shots of the woman he is with – who is not Hye-geum. We also see Seon-yul sending photos to Soo-hyun and Go-eun respectively as he aims to make Soo-hyun regret killing his father.

The next day, Soo-hyun meets Professor Si-ra and wonders why she lied to her about Seon-yul’s identity. Si-ra apologises and connects Soo-hyun to the real son of Hyun-ja’s victims, i.e. Min-hyuk. Soo-hyun meets Min-hyuk outside his apartment and offers to help him calm down.

Min-hyuk lashes out at Soo-hyun but once Soo-hyun shares her story of revenge, he calms down. She leaves her card with Min-hyuk and asks him to reach out to her if he needs help. Soo-hyun then visits the mountain she spoke to Hyun-ja about and promises to take care of Min-hyuk until the very end.

Meanwhile, Seon-yul visits Hye-geum’s art gallery and collects a painting from her on Kim Joon’s behalf. Before handing it over to the politician, Seon-yul asks Soo-jin to copy the files on the flash drive hidden inside the painting package. Seon-yul then hands over the painting to Kim Joon and reveals that he was the person who sent Soo-hyun the photos.

Kim Joon asks Seon-yul to forgive and move on but Seon-yul is adamant about making Soo-hyun and her family suffer. He offers to help the politician deal with Soo-ho and leaves. On the other hand, Soo-ho is having a meal with Han-sung where they discuss Seon-yul and Soo-hyun’s last meeting.

That night, Soo-ho gets back home and asks Soo-hyun about meeting Seon-yul so often. Soo-hyun tells Soo-ho that she was meeting the boy because of Hyun-ja’s diary but does not mention that he was Ji-woong’s son. Soo-ho asks Soo-hyun to beware and looks through her laptop search history and finds that she had been looking up information on the fire started by Hyun-ja.

The next day, Soo-hyun visits Tae-ho at the hospital and runs into Kim Joon who was at a charitable event for the terminally ill kids. She is disgusted by the way the politician is being praised and appreciated by the kids. Soo-hyun chats with Tae-ho and learns that Seon-yul was a popular med student who dropped out all of a sudden. She also learns that the Junseong Welfare Foundation – funded by Kim Joon was paying Eun-min’s medical bills.

Meanwhile, Tae-ho asks Soo-jin out on a date and she agrees to go out with him that weekend. On his way out, Kim Joon visits Eun-min in her VIP hospital room and hopes that she wakes up to stop Seon-yul. Soo-hyun notices Kim Joon leave the hospital as he takes the route to her house.

Outside her house, Soo-hyun watches Kim Joon enter Hye-geum’s house and is surprised. Kim Joon asks Hye-geum to hug him and asks her to flee with Hee-jae as he does not need a controversy this close to the elections. At work, Soo-ho thinks about Seon-yul and his interaction with Soo-hyun.

However, with their news channel failing to make an impact, Soo-ho suggests hosting an interview with Kim Joon himself to boost views. That night, Seon-yul goes back home and thinks about how happy he was before Soo-hyun killed his father and ruined his life. He decides to do something about it and sends his colleague to Soo-hyun’s house.

The man tells Soo-ho that he wanted to look at the dashcam footage of his car to check if there was an accident in the area. Soo-ho hands the dashcam memory card to Soo-hyun as he is getting late for work. The man writes his contact information on a photo and hands it to Soo-hyun. Inside her house, Soo-hyun looks through the files but does not find anything suspicious there. She calls the man and tells him that there is nothing in the footage.

The man meets Seon-yul and tells him he has done as he was asked to do. Seon-yul wanted to prompt Soo-hyun to look at the footage from one night in particular. Soo-hyun spots Yu-ri and Soo-ho together in one of the videos but dismisses it as the night when Yu-ri scolded Soo-ho for cheating on her. She gets a call from Yu-ri who reveals that she had some good news from work.

Soo-hyun agrees to meet her soon but ends the call when she hears chaos on the street. Soo-hyun finds Hee-jae having seizures on the street and offers to help him. Hye-geum shows up and takes Hee-jae inside. Inside her house, Soo-hyun learns that Hye-geum was not in the country on the night the photo of Soo-ho and his mistress was taken.

Hye-geum apologises to Soo-hyun and comes clean to her. She reveals that Soo-ho offered to help protect her from Kim Joon, who was Hee-jae’s biological father. Hye-geum adds that Soo-ho did not want Soo-hyun to learn anything about his mistress which was why she lied to her in the first place. Kim Joon’s secretary tells him he was invited as a guest on Soo-ho’s show. He agrees to go and Soo-ho prepares for the event.

That day, Soo-ho finds out that Min-hyuk is the son of the fire victims and not Seon-yul. Han-sung calls him to tell Soo-ho that Seon-yul is Ji-woong’s son. Soo-ho rushes to the junkyard to find Seon-yul but ends up finding photos of him and his mistress on Seon-yul’s desk.

That night, Seon-yul finds Yu-ri’s birth mother at a gambling cafe and sends her to meet Yu-ri. Yu-ri panics upon seeing her mother and asks the woman to leave. The woman starts beating Yu-ri up like she would as a child.

On the other hand, Soo-hyun goes to see Yu-ri and finds her laptop open in her cabin. She recalls seeing the man at the junkyard and is convinced that Seon-yul was trying to show her something.

The episode ends with Soo-hyun watching the video of Soo-ho and Yu-ri’s conversation where Soo-ho asks Yu-ri if she is okay with Soo-hyun finding out the truth about their affair. Seon-yul waits outside Yu-ri’s shop with an evil smile on his face, hoping Soo-hyun feel his pain.

The Episode Review

This show is so good and one plot twist after another makes me realise how every single character on Wonderful World is evil to their core. There is not a single character that I like except for Tae-ho but I wonder what happens to him as Seon-yul is hell-bent on using him as his pawn too…

Going into this one, everyone expected Seon-yul to be the main lead or Soo-hyun’s lover but seeing Cha Eun-woo as the evil character in this drama was definitely on on anyone’s bingo card. He is doing a great job in this show and I am looking forward to seeing what happens to his character in the end.

As for Soo-hyun, it’s extremely sad how she found out about her husband and sister’s affair. I hope Soo-hyun bounces back from this and tries to put both Soo-ho and Yu-ri in their places as we enter the second half of this drama.
