“Thirty-Nine” has released a midway making video that features unseen behind-the-scenes clips from episodes 1 through 6!
JTBC’s “Thirty-Nine” stars Son Ye Jin, Jeon Mi Do, and Kim Ji Hyun as three friends who met in their second year of high school and are now on the verge of turning 40.
Son Ye Jin plays Cha Mi Jo, the head dermatologist of a clinic in Gangnam. Jeon Mi Do takes the role of Jung Chan Young, an acting teacher who previously dreamed of becoming an actress, and Kim Ji Hyun stars as Jang Joo Hee, a department store cosmetics manager. Their love interests are played by Yeon Woo Jin, Lee Moo Saeng, and Lee Tae Hwan.
At the start of the clip, Lee Tae Hwan is busy in the kitchen as he tries to emulate a real chef. He’s eventually joined by Yeon Woo Jin, Son Ye Jin, Jeon Mi Do, and Kim Ji Hyun who come to observe his work. As the female leads prepare for their whispering scene, Son Ye Jin comments, “We can speak up a bit, right?” She adds, “If it’s too quiet, I worry [viewers] might not be able to hear us,” and the trio crack up at the thought of keeping their conversation a secret from viewers.
For the next scene, Kim Ji Hyun films in the same spot on a different day. As she practices slurring her lines for her drunk scene, Lee Tae Hwan jokes from the side, “Joo Hee is like a really cute nuisance.” After the take, Kim Ji Hyun adds, “I’m shy…I’m embarrassed…My face is automatically getting red.”
At night, Son Ye Jin and Yeon Woo Jin gather to film his character Kim Sun Woo’s drunken confession. While rehearsing their lines, the two share giggles about Kim Sun Woo’s approach, as Son Ye Jin comments, “He’s crazy!” and Yeon Woo Jin jokingly adds, “He sounds like a pervert!”
Later, Son Ye Jin, Jeon Mi Do, and Kim Ji Hyun get ready to film at Cha Mi Jo’s house. Before they start filming, the ladies take turns playing around with a putting mat. The three then do their best to film a high-energy scene where Jung Chan Young and Jang Joo Hee take over Cha Mi Jo’s phone to text Kim Sun Woo. While Cha Mi Jo is on the phone with Kim Sun Woo, Son Ye Jin calls out “It wasn’t me!” to clear up a misunderstanding, but makes everyone crack up when she randomly adds, “Who are you?!”
