Watch: Son Ye Jin And Yeon Woo Jin Engage In Deep Discussion Before Perfecting Their Kiss Scene In “Thirty-Nine”

Mar 8, 2022

“Thirty-Nine” has shared a cute behind-the-scenes clip of Son Ye Jin and Yeon Woo Jin’s blossoming relationship!

JTBC’s “Thirty-Nine” stars Son Ye Jin, Jeon Mi Do, and Kim Ji Hyun as three friends who met in their second year of high school and are now on the verge of turning 40. Son Ye Jin plays Cha Mi Jo, the head dermatologist of a clinic in Gangnam, while Yeon Woo Jin plays Kim Sun Woo, Cha Mi Jo’s co-worker and love interest.

At the start of the clip, Son Ye Jin and Yeon Woo Jin are deep in discussion about where in the scene it would be best to insert their kiss. Son Ye Jin suggests she hit him lightly, and to make sure she can properly hit him with her right hand instead of her left, the two switch spots on the couch. The actress gives it another go with her right hand then jokingly adds, “Look, I can hit you so well.” After a successful run-through, the pair easily perfect their kiss scene.

Next, they film at the clinic and the two actors prepare for the scene where Kim Sun Woo brings Cha Mi Jo a wide variety of activities to try and cheer her up. They begin filming the scene with the coloring book and as Son Ye Jin admires the pencil crayons, she improvises to hilariously add, “Wow…we didn’t have these back in my day.”

After the take, she asks, “Was that too funny? Did I sound too much like a 40-year-old? We really didn’t have these back in my day.” When no one agrees, she jokingly retorts, “You’re all from back in my day! Why are you acting like you’re not?!”

The next scene is to be used without audio, so Son Ye Jin jokes, “I’m going to swear. You fool. While smiling, [I’m going to say], ‘you fool.'” As the pair continue coloring, Son Ye Jin asks Yeon Woo Jin, “You know how your mouth opens slightly when you’re focused?” He jokes in response, “I’ll put a sandwich in your mouth for you.”
