tvN’s upcoming Wednesday-Thursday drama “The Heavenly Idol” dropped a new highlight teaser!
Based on a popular webtoon and web novel, “The Heavenly Idol” is a new fantasy drama starring Kim Min Kyu as High Priest Rembrary, who suddenly wakes up one day to find himself in the body of Woo Yeon Woo, the “visual center” of the unsuccessful idol group Wild Animal. Go Bo Gyeol will star in the drama as Kim Dal, Woo Yeon Woo’s No. 1 fan.
The newly released teaser for “The Heavenly Idol” depicts High Priest Rembrary adjusting to his new life as an idol. While on stage in his new body as Woo Yeon Woo, High Priest Rembrary brazenly declares, “I don’t know how to dance!” As those around him express concern at his sudden change in personality, Woo Yeon Woo struggles with aspects of his new idol life such as living in a messy dorm and eating salad for meals.
The teaser then introduces Woo Yeon Woo’s No. 1 fan Kim Dal who is concerned for Woo Yeon Woo’s sudden “memory loss.” She applies to be Wild Animal’s manager, lying about her status as a fan during the job interview. High Priest Rembrary tells her, “Unfortunately, the Woo Yeon Woo you know is not here.”
When High Priest Rembrary finally manages to connect with Woo Yeon Woo back in his own world, idol Woo Yeon Woo agrees to return only if Wild Animal wins the Artist of the Year award. High Priest Rembrary resolves, “From now on, I really have to live as an idol.” Kim Dal lends a hand by teaching him the ways of the idol industry from how to bow respectfully to managing a healthy diet and acting cutely in front of the camera, spurring a hilarious and sweet relationship between the two.
Although trouble comes in the form of the King of Darkness (Lee Jang Woo) and with the risk of disbandment, Woo Yeon Woo remains strong as he takes a shot at idol life, giving his all with the help of Wild Animal’s agency CEO Lim Sun Ja (Ye Ji Won), senior artist Seon Woo Shil (Tak Jae Hoon), and Kim Dal.
Although High Priest Rembrary pettily argues in the beginning, “It’s a relief that you don’t have any feelings for me,” when Kim Dal expresses her feelings for the real Woo Yeon Woo, High Priest Rembrary later confesses, “I was able to endure thanks to you.”
