Studio Dragon has acquired drama production company GT:st.
On March 25, Studio Dragon revealed through a public announcement that they will buy 200,000 stocks (100 percent) from GT:st at 25 billion won (approximately $22 million) in cash.
Screenwriter Noh Hee Kyung, producing directors (PD) Kim Gyu Tae and Hong Jong Chan, and more creators are part of the drama production company GT:st.
Noh Hee Kyung is the writer behind famous dramas “Worlds Within,” “That Winter, the Wind Blows,” “It’s Okay, That’s Love,” “Dear My Friends,” and “Live.” PD Kim Gyu Tae frequently worked with the writer, directing “Worlds Within,” “IRIS,” “That Winter, the Wind Blows,” “It’s Okay, That’s Love,” and “Live.” Hong Jong Chan is the PD behind “Live Up to Your Name,” “Dear My Friends,” and upcoming drama “Her Private Life,” starring Park Min Young and Kim Jae Wook.
Studio Dragon will create high quality dramas through collaborations between their original creators and those from GT:st. In addition to releasing Noh Hee Kyung’s works, the studio also plans to have her mentor newcomer screenwriters and produce one to two dramas a year that are led by newcomers.
A source from the studio said, “In the ever-changing world of media where quality is preferred over quantity, securing excellent creators is key for the studio to gain a competitive edge. Through this acquisition, we expect to be capable of producing an additional three to four well-made dramas a year.
