"Parry" Paiwan Wannabud, formerly nicknamed Ek, is a Thai emcee, actor, writer, influencer and former Buddhist monk, then known as Phra Maha Praiwan Worawanno. Born in Tha Mai, Chanthaburi, Thailand, Parry was ordained as a novice monk at Wat Phiphat Mongkhon in Sukhothai after completing primary school where he studied the Pali language. He was eventually moved to Wat Soi Thong in Bangkok for advanced studies. By the age of twenty, he was ordained as a monk under the auspices of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great. He later completed the highest level of Pali studies and got two masters degrees from Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Buddhism and Ramkhamhaeng Univeristy's Faculty of Law.
On December 3, 2021, Paiwan decided to leave the monkhood. In the year that followed, he changed his nickname to Parry and is now openly LGBTQ+. He's in a relationship with activist and Buriram Rajabhat University student Ford Pakonsak.
