Kolleen Park is a South Korean-American musical director, conductor and actress. She graduated from Gyeongnam Girls' High School and later obtained a bachelor's degree in Cello from the California Institute of the Arts and a master's degree in Korean Traditional Music from Seoul National University. She was born in Los Angeles to a South Korean father and an American-Lithuanian mother and she has lived in both South Korea and the United States for most of her life. While studying for her master's degree, master singer Park Dong-jin selected her as her student and mentored her in pansori. She has been active since 1989 and had a brief career as a theater actress in the Busan Municipal Theater Company. In 1995, she managed to become South Korea's #1 musical director when she was in charge of "Empress Myeongseong" and has directed musicals such as "Rent", "Chicago", among many more. She returned to acting in 2011 with a role in the musical "Next to Normal" and later also acted in the 2018 version of the musical "Chicago", but she spends the majority of her time conducting or supervising musicals.
