Jung Ho Seok, better known by his stage name J-Hope, is a South Korean rapper, songwriter, dancer, and record producer. J-Hope made his debut on June 13, 2013, as a member of BTS on Mnet's M! Countdown with the track "No More Dream" from their debut single album 2 Cool 4 Skool. Together with the members of BTS, he went on to win a series of awards and performed at several events, such as the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) and "Top Social Artist" and "Top Duo/Group" at the Billboard Music Awards (BBMA).
As a solo artist, he released his first mixtape, "Hope World", in 2018.
He graduated from Global Cyber University with a degree in Broadcasting and Entertainment. In March 2019, he enrolled at Hanyang Cyber University for the MBA program in Advertising and Media.
Alongside the other members of BTS, J-hope was awarded the Hwagwan of Order of Cultural Merit by the President of South Korea for contributing Korean Culture and Literature to the World.
On July 15, 2022, J-Hope released his solo album "Jack in the Box" consisting of 10 tracks, the title track being "More", released earlier on July 1. In September of the same year, J-Hope was featured in the track "Rush Hour" by Crush.
On March 3, 2023, the BTS member released the song "On the Street" in collaboration with American rapper J. Cole.
At the beginning of 2023, Big Hit Music announced that J-Hope filed a request for cancellation of the postponement of military service, making him the second member to enlist after Jin.
He enlisted as an active duty soldier on April 18, 2023.
