Kim Min Jae is a South Korean footballer who plays as a defender. He graduated from Suwon Technical High School and later attended Yonsei University but dropped out of the Sports Leisure Studies program. He began playing soccer since he was in elementary school and coaches immediately noticed him for his skills.
In 2016, while a sophomore at Yonsei, he decided to pursue his professional career despite the university trying to dissuade him. That year he joined semi-professional club Gyeongju KHNP and in 2017 he moved to K-League club Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors scoring 3 goals in 52 appearances.
He moved to China in 2019 to play for Beijing Guoan playing there until 2021 when he was involved in controversy when he criticized the team when he was in South Korea for his wedding. He was sold to Türkiye's Fenerbahçe making 31 appearances between the league and the UEFA Europa League matches.
In 2022, he moved to Italy to play for Napoli for a 18 million Euro fee. He began playing for the senior national team in 2017 but an injury prevented him from representing South Korea in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He did help the team win the 2018 Asian Games so he was exempted from mandatory military service. He was also part of the squad that attended the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
