Choi Woo Shik is a Korean-Canadian actor. Choi pursued acting full-time, and supporting roles followed in television series such as “Rooftop Prince” and “Special Affairs Team TEN”. In 2014, Choi starred in his first leading role in the coming-of-age indie film “Set Me Free”, for which he won Actor of the Year at the Busan International Film Festival. This was followed by the romantic comedy cable series “Hogu's Love”, in which he played the title character.
Choi gained international recognition with the blockbuster zombie thriller film “Train to Busan” and action-adventure film “Okja”.
In 2018, He left JYP Entertainment and joined Management SOOP. Choi furthered his career by playing a mysterious assassin called the Nobleman in the movie “The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion”. His dark character was markedly different from his brighter characters, and, in the movie's press interview, his co-star Park Hee Soon stated Nobleman may even be Choi's once-in-a-lifetime character.
In 2019, Choi Woo Shik got internationally praised for his main role in the movie "Parasite". South Korea has selected Bong Joon Ho’s Palme d’Or winner “Parasite” as its entry for the International Feature Film award at the 92nd Academy Awards (Oscars).
