Kim Hyun Woo is a South Korean wrestler. He graduated from Gangwon High School and later obtained a bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Kyungnam University. He began practicing judo at a young age but decided to switch sports to wrestling in 2001. He specialized in Greco-Roman style and began drawing attention when he won a silver medal at the 2006 World Junior Wrestling Championships and a gold medal at the Asian Junior Wrestling Championships later that year. He became a member of the South Korean National Team and represented his country in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London where he won a gold medal in the 66 kg category. He also competed in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and obtained a bronze medal in the 75 kg category. He reached the quarterfinals at the 2022 Asian Games (moved to 2023 due to the COVID-19 pandemic) but he sustained a rib injury and had to withdraw. He has not decided if he will officially retire or not after he fully recovers from the injury.
