Recap Korean Drama "Today’s Webtoon" Episode 5

In Today’s Webtoon Episode 5, Ma-eum hurts one of the webtoon artists in the camp while trying to protect Shin Dae-ryuk and Jun-yeong from him. He creates chaos by saying he will sue the company if he hurts his hands. Jun-yeong takes him to the hospital but Ma-eum is worried if she has really ruined an artist’s career.

Ji-hyung and Man-chul have other things to take care of and are waiting to hear from Jun-yeong. Jun-yeong sees the artist and his friend faking the injury and records it on camera. They have already posted complaints on the internet and Man-chul has to answer his seniors that everything is fine at the camp.

The judges are finalizing the winners of the camp and all of them except Kwon are impressed by Shin Dae-ryuk’s storytelling skills. He is poor at drawing but his story writing and framing and toning of the plots are natural. Man Chul thinks that they can improve his drawing skills and writer Baek offers to take him in as his assistant.

Dae-ryuk doesn’t win the completion but has been given an amazing opportunity which he refuses initially but Ma-eum manages to convince him. All the new artists have been assigned a producer and Ma-eum gets Gu Seul-a as her artist but Seul-a is not yet confident about herself. Jun-yeong refuses to take any artist because he doesn’t feel confident that he can help debut a rookie artist.

Heo invites Jun-yeong for a dinner and to discuss his offer. Jung-yeong has a lot of questions for him about the future of the webtoon team. Heo sounds quite eager to get rid of the webtoon team and bring in an entirely new team. He believes that this team will not be able to reach their promised target and has already started making moves.

He wants Jun-yeong to give him the correct report of the team’s progress and by correct, he means a report that will work in Heo’s favour. Jun-yeong is still in a dilemma but pretends to accept his offer. He doesn’t like where this is headed.

Ma-eum has been working with Gu Seul-a for three months and she is still improving her storyboard while Lee Woo-jin who joined at the same time is getting ready for her debut. Seul-a’s mother has been pestering her to get a real job instead of working on her hobby which has been stressing out Seul-a. Dae-ryuk has started working with artist Baek and his other assistants but he doesn’t know how to speak in a social setting and offends his senior artist, not one but many times. He tells Ma-eum that he will go back to his old job if he cannot make a debut within a year.

Today’s Webtoon Episode 5 Ending

Ma-eum has been tensed because of her artists not doing so good but she gets a bigger shock when she sees Seul-a with Kwon PD. Kwon needs an artist to turn a web novel into a webtoon and he scouts Seul-a from her nickname, Crystal without knowing she is under Nexon. He offers her the project and tells her to quit her project with Ma-um as his project will give her money and experience as well.

She accepts her offer and Kwon advises Ma-eum to think about how an artist also needs to make a living and she cannot play with their future. This was Ma-eum’s first rookie artist and she failed to make her debut. Ji-hyung consoles her it is going to happen a lot more.

Ma-eum remembers the time when her father supported her every dream and even let her take her time after she hurt herself and her opponent in a Judo match. She hasn’t been able to tell her father about her job but she opens up to him after playing a judo match with him. SHe tells him that her dreams have changed and she wants to follow them because they make her happy.

Today’s Webtoon Episode 5 Review

The rookie webtoon producers have been facing new challenges every day as they venture into their careers. Ma-eum and Jun-yeong are two distinct people. While Ma-eum is ready to face the challenges as they come, Jun-yeong wants to take calculated risks. However, Jun-yeong is better at handling complex situations. Both of them keep the story fresh as they tread slowly on their paths.
