The students also learn that the mafia executed one of their own, Choi Joon-won. The beginning of the second round of the game is announced, and the students are asked to start voting. They have until midnight to choose someone they suspect of being a mafia.
Yoon-seo asks if anyone has seen Choi Joon-won while other students rush to the broadcasting room, hoping to find the announcer. The students divide themselves into two. One team finds Joon-won murdered in the toilet, and the other finds no announcer. The broadcasting room is empty.
Yoon-seo checks the scene surrounding Joon-woon and deduces he was killed recently. She starts feeling nauseated. In the meantime, Kyung-joon asks Joon-hee to take responsibility as the class president. Joon-hee advocates for them to get out of the youth centre and find help quickly.
Joon-hee sends the students a group message, notifying them they must leave immediately. They meet outside the building and plan their next move. Joon-hee says he saw a gas station nearby, and they can walk there since their phones are not working. They start running towards the exit, but an announcement stops them short in their tracks. They are informed they have to play the game within the designated area. The students look around and discover that the floor is marked.
One student loses his calm and crosses the line. His friend tries to stop him and accidentally crosses it, too. They are immediately executed, and they commit suicide by banging their heads against each other and a rock. The other students watch in horror as the reality of the situation hits them again. The announcer informs the students that their dead friends were civilians, meaning the game is still on.
After witnessing the brutal death of their classmates, the students return inside and discuss what to do next. Joon-hee says they have to wait; a few students disagree, but they won’t dare leave. One girl asks the others to figure out what to do with the dead bodies. Another asks when the teacher will return, but no one knows.
Yoon-seo gets up and runs to the rooftop to look for a signal. Jung-won and Joon-hee follow her. Kyung-joon uses this opportunity to steal the keys on the table, allowing access to multiple rooms in the building.
At the rooftop, Yoon-seo discovers that the white line defines the designated area where the game should be played. From the elevated view, they can see the line extends away from the building, leading to a forest. However, there are many lines, and they must determine which one is real.
The three go back and inform the other students about their findings. Using a map, they decide to follow the white line and see if they can get to a nearby village and ask for help. Initially, the students are scared, but Joon-hee says it will be okay if they don’t cross the line. They tested it themselves and know they must walk to the end between the lines. They followed the line until they found a trail.
The students decide that some people should check where the trail leads. Joon-hee volunteers, and Yoon-hee is asked to stay behind since she is not well(she nearly drowned in the pool the previous day). They argue she will slow Joon-hee down. After much consultation, So-mi, Da-hee, Hyeon-ho and another student volunteer to go. Da-hee only agreed to go after Hyeon-ho volunteered. As they say goodbye to the volunteers, Yoon-seo hears someone calling her, but there is no one. On the way up the trail, Na-hee gets hurt but decides to keep going up with the others. This is mainly because So-mi nudged her to say she is okay.
In the meantime, Kyung-joon and his crew discover the snack bar and decide to keep it for themselves. Yoon-seo asks a few students to help her place the dead bodies in the freezers. However, she takes photos of the scene and questions why the mafia killed Joon-won if he was on their team. Based on the scene, she finds it odd that someone hit Joon-won with a fire extinguisher from the front.
Joon-won only had wounds on his forehead; it was strange he didn’t dodge an attack when he saw it coming. Otherwise, it means Joon-won rammed his head intentionally against the fire extinguisher. While placing the bodies in the freezer, the students realise that it is not as cold as it should be and try to lower the temperature. They also wonder how their phones still have power when they never charged them. Nonetheless, they leave the freezer.
On the way out, Yoonseo hears a strange noise and tries to investigate. She follows the voice to a basement, and it looks like a ghost is right behind her. She hears a door opening and walks towards it. She finds more room and what looks like an office. She tried to use the landline, but it was off. However, after she leaves the room, the computers automatically turn on and reveal CCTV footage across the different rooms in the building. Yoon-seo returns to her room and finds Jung-won trying to get the game’s code information through the back end. Sadly, her attempt fails.
Jung-won also tells her that the phones of the dead students won’t work or charge. Yoon-seo questions if the phone dies along with its owner. She asks Jung-won if she has seen or heard anything strange. However, Jung-won says it has all been strange. Yoon-seo tells her she suspects she saw a ghost, but Jung-won dismisses her friend’s fears.
At the same time, the volunteers come to the end of the line and notice something odd. The people they spotted from afar are not moving, even the seagulls. Someone might have placed scarecrows there to make it look like they are people.
So-mi and Dong-hyeon think they can no longer see the end of the line, so they move closer to investigate. Unfortunately, Dong-hyeon slips and ends up violating the rule. By the looks of it, So-mi pushed him instead of helping him when he slipped. He is immediately executed, and he kills himself just like the rest of the students.
Things are getting serious, and there is no end in sight. The students could not find a way out and have no idea how the game truly works. Why did the mafia kill their own? What happens when night comes? Do the mafia wake up and choose who to kill? If so, this means that the mafias know each other and are working together.
I suspect So-mi is one of the mafias. She barely tried to help Dong-hyeon. If anything, she pushed him away. Was this premeditated or an innocent flight or fight moment when Dong-hyeon clutched her?
It is also suspicious how Yoon-seo is the only one discovering all these places and seeing ghosts. She also acts like a detective, but is she simply eager to get out or acting to throw off any suspicion from herself? Jung-won is also still suspicious.
