MAMAMOO’s Solar Tears Up As She Talks About Her Struggle Adjusting To Leader Role

On the March 14 broadcast of tvN’s “Life Bar,” MAMAMOO’s Solar opened up about the difficulties of taking on the role of a leader.
Solar revealed, “I was always the youngest, even back home. But when I entered [the agency], I was the oldest. It was really strange to be the oldest.” She explained that since she was the oldest, the agency expected her to take on the leader role to guide the members. However, Solar confessed that at the time, she didn’t know what to say as she’d never taken on such a role before. She said, “At the time, I [treated the members] more strictly.”
The MCs also expressed their sympathy with Han Hye Jin adding, “22 is still a child.”
Solar continued, “Now that I think about it, there was rarely a time in which I complimented the members. In particular, there wasn’t a time I complimented Hwasa.” Hwasa also added, “Because of that, we clashed a lot in the past. At the time, I didn’t know that Solar also needed someone to guide her on what to do. However, now I understand completely.”

Solar also added, “I felt so sorry, but I’m not good at expressing things. So one day, I got angry at Hwasa again, but then Hwasa asked, ‘Do you hate me?'” However, having overcome their differences, Solar talked about how she cried when Hwasa won first place with her solo “Twit.” She said, “I told her congratulations, and Hwasa was also crying.”
Hwasa added, “I know even when [Solar] doesn’t speak up. I cried after seeing her too. We didn’t say much, but I felt like we shared a lot of conversation through that.”
MAMAMOO also recently uploaded a CCTV clip to their Twitter showing the moment in which Hwasa got first place. The video shows Solar running up to hug Hwasa who gets up to tightly hug Solar back. The two members are shown looking flustered and tearing up.
