Episode 15 of Love Song For Illusion starts with Sajo Yoong’s men killing Yang Jae-yi in front of Yeon Wol. When Sajo Hyun arrives after reading Ak-hee’s mind and realising his plans and the lies he told him, he tries to talk to Yeon Wol, but she sends him away, saying they were not meant to be. Sajo Hyun agrees to leave her alone after decreeing that she will not be harmed by the men trailing their arrows towards her.
Anyone who goes against his royal decree will be beheaded. On the way to the palace, Sajo Hyun says he will make sure that Ak-hee will not read his mind and get revenge on the people lying to him, pretending to be his most trusted family, including the Queen and Sajo Yoong.
Sajo Hyun arrives at the morning assembly, and without an ounce of emotion showing on his face, he dismisses Sajo Yoong and asks the Head Minister to fill him in on the discussions they have been having in his absence.
Sajo Yoong follows Sajo Hyun to his chambers after the meeting and tries to feed him lies about the wind knife and that it was a win for the Crown that Yang Jae-yi died because the Wind Knife is a group of assassins looking to overthrow the King. Unbeknown to Sajo Yoong, Sajo Hyun has regained his memories, and he reminds him that he should not try too hard because he now knows his true colours.
Ak-hee panics in the mind space when he realises that Sajo Hyun has regained his memories, saying it is too soon, and tries to summon him to the mind space, but Sajo Hyun is now stronger than Ak-hee, and he smiles at his feeble attempts. Sajo Yoong is furious that he did not receive a report from his men about Sajo Hyun regaining his memories, and he takes it out on his right-hand man and Chung Ta.
Ki Chool is frustrated by Sajo Yoong’s disrespect and tries to kill him for failure to kill Sajo Hyun. Outside, he runs into Moo-dal, who gives him an opportunity for promotion and the information that Sajo Yoong is reshuffling his staff and will eliminate the people who know too much. Later, Sajo Hyun meets with the Queen and Moo-dal, asking them about the baby’s father because he is sure he did not sire it.
Geum-hwa decides to use Ak-hee, saying that they slept together, and she only realises in the morning that it was not Sajo Hyun, but since they share the same body, the baby has Sajo Hyun’s blood. Ak-hee, who is getting weaker in the mind space, says that he will make Geum-hwa cry tears of blood later for using him.
Moo-dal and Geum-hwa are backed into a corner since they know that Sajo Hyun will confirm with Ak-hee but are confident that Ak-hee will not tell Sajo Hyun the truth since he wants to defeat him. Regardless, they have to be ready for anything, and Moo-dal says that he has laid the trap to get rid of Sajo Yoong, and they will be the ones to get the last laugh in the fight for the Crown.
Moo-dal notices that Geum-hwa’s bodyguard is missing, and in the next scene, we see Ri-na under interrogation by Consort Cheong, asking about the father of Geum-hwa’s baby because she knows it is not Sajo Hyun. However, Ri-na has nothing to share because she does not know, but Consort Cheol tells her to pretend that she knows something and tells Sajo Hyun that he is not the father, but someone sent by Geum-hwa soon kills her.
Sajo Hyun finds the book with a map that Yeon Wol left him, and on a hidden page, he finds a map left by Yang Jae-yi directing him to Wind Knife’s secret hideout. He calls for Jin-seo, and after we learn about what happened to Eunuch Neung, Sajo Hyun and Jin-seo switch places, and he heads out to meet with the Wind Knife.
The Wind Knife is furious about Jae-yi’s death, and they blame it on Yeon Wol. They are even more furious because she refuses to become their new leader and help them fight to restore the Royal family on the throne since she is the only surviving member and their only hope. They ask her to leave Wind Knife, which she agrees to do the following day.
Meanwhile, Sajo Hyun arrives at the base and trails after Yeon Wol in the forest. He apologises for causing Jae-yi’s death and tells her that he will keep the promise he made to Master Yang Jae-yi. Yeon Wol is happy that he has regained his memories, but she soon discovers that Sajo Hyun has not regained his memory and is lying to Ak-hee.
She starts to worry about him but still decides to go against her wishes since he thinks she has to keep her promise to Jae-yi and stay away from Sajo Hyun. However, a mental conversation with the dead Jae-yi makes her realise that he wants her to be happy, and the only way to do that is to follow her heart.
After Sajo Hyun arrives in the palace, he runs into Hong Goon and Eunuch Neung disguised as a palace maid. They play along to Sajo Hyun’s disguise since they know Sajo Yoong’s men are watching them, and they head together to Sajo Hyun’s room. Eunuch Neung is angry when he finds Jin-seo in the room, but they make peace after Sajo Hyun tells him that Jin-seo helped take his family to a safe place.
Later that night, Sajo Hyun willingly enters the mind space and lets Ak-hee out. He still confidently fools Ak-hee into thinking he has his memories back, and he realises that Ak-hee did not sleep with the Queen. After waking up, Ak-hee is still weak, and he can neither see nor read Sajo Hyun’s mind even when they are together in the mind space.
The following day, as Yeon Wol leaves Wind Knife, she thinks back to the brief meeting with Sajo Hyun in the forest and realises that Ak-hee must be planning something, which is why Sajo Hyun is deceiving him about his memories. True to her intuition, Ak-hee comes looking for her in the forest and starts to tell her how to make sure Sajo Hyun never takes back his body.
Yeon Wol’s quick wit helps her read the situation and realise that Ak-hee’s obsession with her and jealousy will make him harm Sajo Hyun, meaning that he is in danger. She does her best to calm him down, saying that she will go far away and forget Sajo Hyun, but she wants neither Ak-hee nor Sajo Hyun to disappear.
After returning to the palace, Ak-hee meets with Sajo Yoong and promises to pass over the throne if he helps him get rid of Sajo Hyun. Sajo Yoon tells him that the ritual can be done tonight at the hall of spirits. Meanwhile, Sajo Hyun uses his time in the mind space to read all of Ak-hee’s memories while consequently regaining his memories in the process and knows about the ritual that Ak-hee plans to use to get rid of him as a trade with Sajo Yoong.
Ak-hee arrives at the hall of spirits later that night, and Chung Ta tells him that he cannot perform the ritual since they were expelled from the heavenly Shaman association and, therefore, they cannot make the blade needed for the ritual. Male Chung Ta forces his way out and tells him that there is a way to perform the ritual still if he goes back to the mind space and uses the blade in there to stab Sajo Hyun.
A fight ensues between Sajo Hyun and Ak-hee in the mind space. Yeon Wol tries to force her way in to protect Sajo Hyun, but she cannot enter. At the end of Love Song For Illusion Episode 15, Ak-hee wakes up and apologises to a dejected Yeon Wol, who is crying hysterically.
Love Song For Illusion Episode 15 is more upbeat and exciting than the last few. We were excited about Sajo Hyun returning his memories and becoming strong enough to block Ak-hee from reading his mind. Yeon Wol and Sajo Hyun have a magical connection, such that Yeon Wol can read what is in Sajo Hyun’s mind without them saying a word.
He easily fooled everyone else about regaining his memories, but Yeon Wol took one look at him and realised that he had not and was deceiving Ak-hee. The end of the episode leaves us on a cliffhanger, anticipating what will happen in the final episode.
Did Ak-hee stab Sajo Hyun in the mind space? Will Sajo Yoong finally get the throne? What will happen to the Wind Knife? What happens to Sajo Hyun? Who will survive between Sajo Hyun and Ak-hee? Will Sajo Hyun and Yeon Wol finally end up together?
