Newly released photos from the script reading of “Agency” (literal translation) offer a sneak peek at the cast of the upcoming drama!
“Agency” is a new drama that depicts the battle between gracefully desperate executives in the advertising industry through the story of Go Ah In (Lee Bo Young), the first-ever female executive of VC Group, who covets the company’s highest position.
The script reading took place in June and was attended by director Lee Chang Min and writer Song Soo Han, along with actors Lee Bo Young, Jo Sung Ha, Son Naeun, Han Joon Woo, Jun Hye Jin, Lee Chang Hoon, Jang Hyun Sung, Jeon Gook Hwan, Song Young Chang, Jo Bok Rae, Jung Seung Gil, and more.
Lee Bo Young will be making her small-screen comeback as Go Ah In, a strong female character who is breaking through the glass ceiling as the first-ever female executive at her company.
“I’ve never played a character as strong as this one,” Lee Bo Young commented. “I felt a sort of catharsis when delivering lines that I wouldn’t be able to say in my own life.” She blew everyone at the reading away with her stellar acting skills and a performance that was the perfect mix of emotional and elegant.
Jo Sung Ha introduced his character, VC Planning Director Choi Chang Soo, as “someone who believes his success is guaranteed and always has first place engrained in his mind.” During the script reading, he perfectly portrayed a man who hides his sly nature behind a soft smile. Viewers can look forward to seeing him and Lee Bo Young battle it out on screen as their characters clash headfirst, both of them strong and unwilling to ever admit defeat.
Son Naeun will play Kang Han Na, an influencer who is the youngest daughter of the VC Group family. The character is full of energy and a lovely charm, and according to Son Naeun, she plays a major role at the company. Her character development will be one of the many key points in this drama.
Meanwhile, Han Joon Woo will play Kang Han Na’s secretary Park Young Woo, whom he described as “a character who must hide his feelings for Kang Han Na if he intends to succeed.”
Jun Hye Jin will play Jo Eun Jung, the mood-maker of the office and a working mom who has been a copywriter for 10 years. “I think I’ve found ‘my role’ that fits me exactly,” Jun Hye Jin said excitedly, and she disappeared into the role of a woman who has to juggle her home life and work life while keeping up her infectiously bright energy.
The supporting cast members also gave their all in showing off their best performances. Jang Hyun Sung shone in his role as Yoo Jung Suk, a talented mentor whom Go Ah In seeks out whenever she’s having a difficult time. The cast members who played Go Ah In’s co-workers at the advertising agency included Lee Kyung Min, Lee Chang Hoon, Kim Dae Gon, and Jung Woon Sun, while Jeon Gook Hwan, Song Young Chang, Jo Bok Rae, and Jung Seung Gil also gave amazing performances as members of VC Group. They were joined by Kim Soo Jin, who plays Go Ah In’s senior, and Yoon Bok In, who plays Eun Jung’s mother-in-law.
As the script reading wrapped up, members of the production team commented, “The actors and production team of ‘Agency’ are working hard and doing their best to create the best drama possible. Within the reality of the advertising industry, we will add a structure to the fun that comes from the drama of people clashing as they do whatever they can to survive while remaining poised in their desire to succeed. Please look forward to it.”
