Flex X Cop 2024 K Drama Episode 15

Mar 24, 2024

Episode 15 of Flex X Cop starts by showing us what happened before Jin Myeong-chul collapsed. I-soo asks his father to tell him the truth about his mother’s death because he remembers hiding the sleeping pills, meaning that his mother did not overdose. Myeong-chul tells him he plans to divorce his wife and start over with I-soo’s mother, but I-soo does not believe him. He begs Myeong-chul to tell him the truth, but he only sits down and says he has told him everything, and it is I-soo’s choice whether he believes him or not.

While the forensics team and the police investigate the scene of death, I-soo is at the office going through files about his mother’s case. Gang-hyun arrives at the office, and he tells her about his doubts regarding his mother’s suicide, asking her for help looking into the case. Just then, detectives from Seoul police station arrive and ask to talk to I-soo, and the whole team shows, including Jun-young and Kyung-jin. I-soo leaves only for Myeong-chul’s assistant to find him dead the following day. The police officers ask to talk to I-soo privately, and Gang-hyun steps out with them as Jun-young and Kyung-jin notice commotion outside the police station.

The officers tell I-soo about his father’s death and that it seems like he committed suicide since they found traces of sleeping pills in his liquor. I-soo is too shocked that he speaks neither to his colleagues at work as they help him out and past the reporters into Jeong-hun’s car that just pulled up nor to anyone at his father’s funeral.

Hee-ja learns about her husband’s death but blames it on I-soo, storming the funeral hall, and starts insulting him. She asks Seung-ju to throw I-soo out of the building, but instead, she gets escorted out with Seung-ju, giving strict instructions to the security not to let her out of the hospital. Team 1 arrives to pay their respect when I-soo shows some emotions but still does not talk.

After the ceremony, I-soo finally finds his voice when sharing a drink with Seung-ju. He does not understand how his father could commit suicide since he thought he was the strongest person he knows. Seung-ju explains that the chairperson’s position comes with much pressure, and Myeong-chul went through additional public pressure because of the elections.

Seung-jun asks I-soo to spend the night at their family house, and since he cannot sleep, he looks around at his father’s study. First, he finds a compass that reminds him of a similar gift he got from his father; then, inside a slightly open drawer, he finds a camera and another box. He opens the box and finds a picture of his mother, and in the back, Myeong-chul has written his intention to start fresh with her and be a good father to I-soo. Suddenly, his father’s last words and how he always responded in anger when I-soo blamed him for his mother’s death rush through his mind, wondering whether his father was telling him the truth.

After the final rites at the funeral grounds, the board starts talking about Seung-ju taking over the company as soon as possible, making I-soo leave.

Meanwhile, gang-hyun cannot stop thinking about what I-soo told her about his mother’s death and the sleeping pills. Therefore, she left the office to ask Ji-won if any sleeping pills were found at the scene. Ji-won goes through the photos taken, but they find neither a medicine bottle nor pills scattered around the scene. The case starts to look peculiar as they try to figure out how or where Myeong-chul got the pills.

Elsewhere, while reading the will, I-soo leaves and tells Seung-jun he can do as he wishes with it. We do not hear Myeong-chul’s last will, but the attorney informs Jeong-hun that before he died, Myeong-chul had expressed intent to change the particulars of his will, but he does not know the reason behind his change of mind.

Gang-hyun refers to the files about the case of I-soo’s mother and finds out similar to his father’s case, there are no sleeping pills found at the scene. She goes to her father for the information, and he becomes curious. However, before they can discuss this, Gang-hyun receives a text from I-soo, wanting to talk. Gang-hyun takes the opportunity to get I-soo to eat first before they talk. After eating, I-soo tells Gang-hyun that he visited his father to ask about his mother. He mentions that he poured him a glass and wanted them to share a drink, which raises suspicion that he might not have been aware of the sleeping pills in the bottle.

Gang-hyun argues that he could have added the pills after I-soo left, and he agrees it might be the case but also mentions that his father was preparing to divorce his wife and start over with I-soo and his mother at the villa. Gang-hyun shares similar concerns, and she informs him that they will reinvestigate both of his parent’s cases while he tries to restore the exact memory of the fateful night many years ago when his mother died. Also, Gang-hyun had not submitted his resignation and asked him to return to work anytime.

The board convenes to discuss the handover issue and who will become the Chairperson of Hansu Group. Jeong-hun is on the board, and when they ask if Seung-jun is good enough to become chairman, he thinks back to when the chairman said he would let Seung-jun pay for his crimes and the lawyer telling him about Myeong-chul’s intent to revise the will.

Suddenly, Gang-hyun calls him, and he excuses himself from the meeting. She asks if Myeong-chul took any sleeping pills, to which he responds that he did not but says that his wife Hee-ja did take pills. Jeong-hun figures that the detectives do not think it is a suicide case, but Gang-hyun says they are considering all possibilities.

While Jung-young and Kyung-jin survey the area around the villa for clues, I-soo visits the hypnosis psychiatrist Yu-Kyung in prison and threatens exposure unless she helps him recover all his memories. He remembers that the person who knocked on their door on the day of his mother’s murder was Hee-ja, and she assaulted his mother.

Jeong-hun sheds more light on the mystery surrounding Myeong-chul’s marriage and Seung-ju not being his son. He tells I-soo that Myeong-chul married Hee-ja for business and knew that Seung-ju was not his real son even before the marriage. Regardless, he decides to marry her, knowing she is in love with another man and is carrying his child. Later, he starts preparing for a divorce after reuniting with I-soo’s mother and learning that he has a biological son. I-soo updates Jeong-hun on the investigation and their assumption that Hee-ja might be involved in both murder cases. He asks Jeong-hun to look into Hee-ja’s whereabouts on the day his father died.

The team continues to investigate the case, and Kyung-jin sees a car leave Myeong-chul’s house an hour before he is killed, but they cannot tell who is driving. Gang-hyun asks for Jeong-hun’s help to get the dash camera image from the car, and he deliberately crashes into Seung-jun’s car at work to take it off the office premises and get the SD card. However, the card has already been removed, solidifying Gang-hyun’s suspicion that he is involved. Meanwhile, I-soo asks to meet up with Seung-jun, who is happy to inform him he is about to be inaugurated as chairman. He asks him to join the company and help him. I-soo has an update to report too about the day his mother died and Seung-jun’s mother visiting their house.

The mother and son meet at the hospital later, and they now have things they know about each other, like Hee-ja visiting I-soo’s mother and Seung-jun leaving early on the day his father died. It appears that Seung-jun might have killed Myeong-chul since his mother always told him that he should own Hansu Group at any cost. We get a flashback to Seung-jun’s childhood before we are taken back to the present, where he says he had to get rid of Myeong-chul since he was sure of two things in his life. First, he has to protect his mother, and second, he has to become the leader of Hansu Group, as his mother always wanted. He tells his mother to continue living her life like she always has by staying clueless and drowning in alcohol.

The next scene takes us back to the day Myeong-chul died. Seung-jun visited him at the villa and tried to plead with him and his mother regarding Dae-hoon’s case. However, Myeong-chul is adamant and wants him and his mother to turn themselves in the following day. Myeong-chul says that the biggest mistake in his life was letting Seung-jun and his mother into his life. Myeong-chul walks away from the table, allowing Seung-jun to add the sleeping pills to his drink.

The episode ends on the day of Seung-ju’s inauguration, with him and I-soo in a staring contest after he walks onto the podium to address the people present.

The Episode Review

The episode ends at a cliffhanger, leaving us all eagerly waiting for the final showdown. The one relationship we admired throughout the series was the one between Seung-ju and I-soo since we felt they were treating each other with authenticity and genuine brotherhood. However, could it be like Seung-ju was manipulating I-soo all through? He knew he was not the biological son and therefore could not inherit Hansu Group through blood, so he pretended to be a good big brother who lets I-soo enjoy his freedom, so Myeong-chul fails to see him as a reliable son.

The possibility of Seung-ju being a greedy, selfish guy is so painful that I can only imagine the betrayal he feels. Will he become the chairman? He does not deserve to become one since he has no right in the first place. In the past episode, gang-hyun asked I-soo if he was willing to arrest his brother if he found out he violated the law and chose to resign for his sake. What will he decide to do this time? The next episode is the final showdown, and we cannot wait to see if Seung-jun and his mother will pay for their evil actions. However, we still wonder about who killed I-soo’s mother and how she was killed.
