ZEROBASEONE’s agency WAKEONE Entertainment has issued a new statement on the recent allegations against Kim Ji Woong.
Earlier this month, an anonymous individual posted a video of a screen recording of a fan call with Kim Ji Woong. At the very end of the call, right after Kim Ji Woong said “thank you” to the fan as a goodbye, someone could be heard cursing in Korean.
At the time, WAKEONE Entertainment announced that Kim Ji Woong had denied cursing at the end of the call and that they would use forensic analysis to prove his innocence.
On February 17, WAKEONE Entertainment released the following statement:
"Hello. This is WAKEONE.
On February 5, we requested expert evaluation of the video that was spreading on social media and online communities through the law firm SHIN&KIM, and we are informing you of the results.
After analyzing the voiceprint characteristics of the voice in the video, the pronunciation was determined to be “thank you” and “expletive,” and after analyzing the frequency response waveforms, the pitch and height of the two voices were determined to be different, and the results found that they were different voices from different people.
Considering that the video in question was not filmed by the device used for the video call, but a different external filming device, there is a possibility that the voice cursing was a recording of an external voice, and we have ascertained that this may be used as evidence that it is not our artist’s voice.
In spite of our faith in our artists and various testimonies, this statement took some time to make because of an additional expert evaluation in order to determine the precise truth, and we ask for your understanding in this regard. We apologize to everyone who must have been concerned.
We promise not only to continue to protect our artist on the basis of truth, so that they do not suffer any damages, but to do everything we can to prevent additional damages being suffered by the fans who love our artist.
We will do our utmost to create a healthy and mature K-pop culture.
Thank you."
Meanwhile, the individual who posted the original video has released a new statement of her own insisting that the video was not edited.
