“My Liberation Notes” has shared a behind the scenes look at Son Seok Gu’s dramatic leap scene!
Helmed by “Law School” director Kim Seok Yoon and penned by “My Mister” and “Another Oh Hae Young” writer Park Hae Young, JTBC’s “My Liberation Notes” is about three siblings who want to escape their stifling lives and the events that unfold when a mysterious outsider comes to their town. It stars Kim Ji Won, Lee Min Ki, and Lee El as the three siblings Yeom Mi Jung, Yeom Chang Hee, and Yeom Ki Jung and Son Seok Gu as the mysterious outsider Mr. Gu.
The new making video starts with the cast outside in the fields as they prepare for the scene where Kim Ji Won’s hat flies away. At first, they use a large fan to blow the hat off her head and then they attach a fishing line to help it fly even higher.
After her hat flies away, Son Seok Gu must leap over the creek to retrieve it for her. As he prepares for the jump, Son Seok Gu meticulously practices his foot placement. Although he initially appears nervous to fly around on the wires, once he gets going, Son Seok Gu excitedly swings around and proposes new ideas for the scene.
The cast and crew take a quick break from filming in the hot summer sun and Son Seok Gu enjoys some shaved ice. He jokes, “The director…only bought it for me. He didn’t buy any for Ji Won.” Kim Ji Won giggles and clarifies from the side, “No, I drank ade.”
At the end, Son Seok Gu diligently cuts up a T-shirt to give it a more worn-in look. After he proudly shows off his work, a staff member flusters him by commenting, “But it’s really obvious you cut it [on purpose].”
