TV Chosun Denies Reports Of Their Former CEO’s Involvement With Jang Ja Yeon
Mar 25, 2019
News outlet TV Chosun denied reports of their former CEO Bang Jung Oh getting in touch with the late actress Jang Ja Yeon before her death.
On March 21, KBS reported through their “News 9” that the Investigative Team of Past Affairs at the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office confirmed that phone calls were exchanged between former TV Chosun CEO Bang Jung Oh and the late Jang Ja Yeon. The outlet further reported that the team also secured a testimony that Chosun Ilbo put pressure on the police in order to delete the alleged call records between the two.
Bang Jung Oh is the second son of Chosun Ilbo CEO Bang Sang Hoon. He resigned from his position as the CEO of TV Chosun in November 2018 following an incident where his 10-year-old daughter was caught abusing the family’s personal chauffeur.
He is also reportedly on the list of people the late Jang Ja Yeon claimed she was forced into sexually entertaining along with his uncle Bang Yong Hoon, as well as other figures in the business and media world.
The following is the official statement from TV Chosun:
On March 21, KBS reported during their “News 9” that “The Investigative Team of Past Affairs at the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office secured a call history between former TV Chosun CEO Bang Jung Oh and Jang Ja Yeon, and a testimony from a source that Chosun Ilbo put pressure on the police in order to delete the records.”
However, there is no truth to former CEO Bang [Jung Oh] talking on the phone with Ms. Jang, and it is also not true that Chosun Ilbo put pressure on the police.
Former CEO Bang [Jung Oh] plans to make a request to the Press Arbitration Commission for correction of the news and take legal action against the reporter who reported fake news.
