The weekend drama ratings battle is heating up!
On September 24, KBS 2TV’s new drama “Three Bold Siblings” premiered to the highest viewership ratings of the entire night. According to Nielsen Korea, the first episode of the series scored an average nationwide rating of 20.5 percent, making it the most-watched program to air on any channel on Saturday.
“Three Bold Siblings” is a romance drama starring Im Joo Hwan as Lee Sang Joon, an A-list actor who is the eldest son of his family. When he gets into an unexpected accident during filming, he is reunited with Kim Tae Joo (Lee Ha Na), his first love from elementary school, who is also the eldest of her siblings and grew up sacrificing everything for her family.
Meanwhile, another new drama made a quieter start last night: JTBC’s “The Empire,” which premiered to an average nationwide rating of 2.4 percent. Starring Kim Sun Ah and Ahn Jae Wook, the drama follows the private lives and dark secrets of the overly ambitious “royalty” that rules over the most prestigious legal circles of Korea.
SBS’s “One Dollar Lawyer,” which premiered to strong ratings the previous night, climbed to a nationwide average of 8.5 percent for its second episode—making it the most-watched miniseries of the night. The new drama starring Namgoong Min also continued to perform well among the key demographic of viewers ages 20 to 49, with whom it scored an average rating of 3.1 percent.
MBC’s “The Golden Spoon,” which stars BTOB‘s Yook Sungjae and airs in the same time slot as “One Dollar Lawyer,” saw a dramatic increase of over 2 percent as it jumped to an average nationwide rating of 7.4 percent for its own second episode.
In the face of all this new competition, tvN’s “Little Women” dropped to an average nationwide rating of 6.0 percent as it entered the second half of its run. However, even despite the decrease, the popular drama still managed to remain first place in its time slot across all cable channels.
Finally, tvN’s “Blind” rose slightly to an average nationwide rating of 2.6 percent for its fourth episode.
