The ratings race has gotten even tighter for weekend dramas!
Due to technical issues with Nielsen Korea’s rating system, the ratings for both December 18 and December 19 were revealed on December 20.
JTBC’s “Snowdrop” premiered with an average nationwide rating of 2.985 percent on December 18 and a rating of 3.898 percent on December 19. Taking place in Seoul in 1987, the drama depicts the love story between Su Ho (Jung Hae In), a student at a prestigious university who rushes into a women’s university one day covered in blood, and Young Ro (BLACKPINK’s Jisoo), a student at the women’s university who hides and takes care of him despite facing danger under close surveillance.
tvN’s “Bulgasal” recorded average nationwide ratings of 6.3 percent and 5.8 percent for its premiere episodes on December 18 and 19, respectively. The fantasy drama stars Lee Jin Wook as Dan Hwal, a bulgasal (a mythical creature that cannot die or age) who was once human centuries ago. Kwon Nara plays Min Sang Woon, a woman who is repeatedly reincarnated while fleeing the bulgasal, but remembers all her past lives.
MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama “The Red Sleeve” rose even further in popularity with an average nationwide rating of 13.3 percent for episode 12 on December 18. This breaks the drama’s previous record of 12.8 percent achieved with episode 11 on December 17.
KBS2’s weekend drama “Young Lady and Gentleman” also continued its successful streak, recording 31.6 percent nationwide on December 18 and 34.5 percent on December 19. 34.5 percent is a new personal best for the drama following its previous record of 33.6 percent from December 19.
KBS1’s “The King of Tears, Lee Bang Won” maintained similar ratings as last week, scoring 8.8 percent and 9.2 percent nationwide on December 18 and 19, respectively. The drama previously recorded ratings of 8.7 percent and 9.4 percent for its premiere episodes last week.
TV Chosun’s “Uncle” enjoyed a major rise, hitting a new high of 5.0 percent nationwide for episode 3 on December 18 after scoring 2.8 percent for its previous episode on December 12. Episode 4 on December 19 recorded an average nationwide rating of 4.4 percent.
OCN’s “Chimera” concluded its run with an average rating of 1.7 percent on December 18 and 2.4 percent for its final episode on December 19, an all-time high for the drama.
tvN’s “Bad and Crazy,” which premiered on December 17 with a rating of 4.5 percent, recorded 3.7 percent for its second episode on December 18.
SBS’s Sunday drama “Let Me Be Your Knight” aired with an average nationwide rating of 1.2 percent on December 19, a slight drop from its previous episode’s rating of 1.7 percent.
