He then remembers how Myung-joon had contacted him earlier and told him about the ransom plan and to capture Ha-young. Now, he waits for the next day when Myung-joon and Ro-hee arrive at the hospital. The next day, Eun-sun tries to release Jayden when Myung-joon stops her and understands that she does not want Ro-hee’s experiment to go public.
He then asks her to leave after understanding her stance and assures her that he will take care of what is to come. While Eun-sun cries about her daughter’s condition, Sang-yoon is in for a surprise when he arrives to see the kidnapping case being handed over to another team. He also finds out that the warrant against Ha-young has been rejected and he has been set free.
Then he talks to his commissioner and finds out that the higher-ups have made this decision and while there is obviously something wrong, there is nothing that can be done. Sang-yoon tells him that Myung-joon and Ro-hee will be arriving at the hospital today as the former wants to turn himself in. Hearing this, the commissioner promises to help him out for the time being but there is no guarantee of what will happen if he does not find the two.
Elsewhere, Hye-eun receives a phone call from Myung-joon who tells her that he will be turning himself in after their daughter comes out of surgery. He reminds her to come to the hospital after which he continues to return to Seoul with Ro-hee and Taek-kyun. But looking at Myung-joon’s getup, Ro-hee suggests he dress up before meeting his daughter.

They take a quick detour to get him dressed in a suit and leave for lunch. Elsewhere, Ha-young threatens Eun-sun to find out Myung-joon’s location. Seeing her daughter in danger with Ha-young there, she has no choice but to contact Taek-kyun and find out where they are following which she hands over the information to Ha-young.
Meanwhile, Taek-kyun finds something suspicious in the transaction made in Ro-hee’s mother’s account while Ro-hee finds out that she is unable to remember anything from the day before her kidnapping. The three then make a move to go to the hospital, unaware that Ha-young is in the basement and has already freed Jayden.
However, Jayden himself is in fear for his life after a call from his boss makes him realise the importance of bringing Ro-hee back with him. While Myung-joon tells the two about meeting outside the restaurant, Ro-hee and Taek-kyun face a surprise attack from Ha-young who stabs Taek-kyun and kidnaps Ro-hee.
Seeing that the two haven’t arrived yet, Myung-joon heads to the basement where he finds Taek-kyun lying in a pool of his blood and calls an ambulance. He then gets into a brawl with Jayden after finding Ro-hee missing when Ha-young intercepts and attacks him from the back before leaving with Ro-hee and Jayden.

Meanwhile, Sang-yoon waits for the two at the hospital but is disappointed when they do not arrive even after Hee-ae’s surgery. He then asks Hye-eun if Myung-joon called her today and finds out that he did in fact call her and told her about turning himself in. Sang-yoon then receives information that Taek-kyun is in the hospital and is sure that something has happened.
He finds out that Ha-young’s arrival in the basement of the restaurant is when things went bad and begins investigating one last time before a disciplinary meeting is held the next day. While he continues to look around for clues, Hye-eun arrives home to see a wounded Myung-joon who tells her that Ro-hee has been kidnapped.
Myung-joon tells her that he will find Ro-hee while Hye-eun tells him to meet Hee-ae as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Sang-yoon arrives at the Choi house and finds a secret room with numerous documents among which one has Ro-hee’s name on it. He takes the documents to understand what they are about and also as a chance to help him through the disciplinary meeting.

The information he gets is that the documents are about Choi Dong-euk’s experiments and that most kids were research subjects and not experiment subjects. He had injected a genetically modified virus into the experiment subjects that would expand their hippocampus which was risky. However, his experiments soon received scrutiny from the academy and he had to stop it.
But unwilling to give up his work this easily, he adopted Choi Jin-tae who was an intelligent child with a 152 IQ as his successor. However, Choi Jin-tae’s records of his experiment on Ro-hee stopped at the age of 2 years old, which means that her records are probably somewhere else and that is the reason for the kidnapping and murder case.
Another piece of information which makes this interesting is that only two children were subjects of Choi Dong-euk’s experiment, Song Hye-euna and the first child to be part of this- Kim Myung-joon. While Sang-yoon is surprised by this finding, Myeong-joon finds the CCTV footage of Ro-hee’s house which was recorded on the day of the kidnapping.
