“SKY Castle” Continues To Set New JTBC Records With Highest Viewership Ratings Yet
Jan 19, 2019
JTBC’s popular “SKY Castle” drama continues to soar!
According to statistics released by Nielsen Korea on January 19, the latest episode of “SKY Castle” that aired on January 18 scored nationwide viewership ratings of 19.9 percent, a 0.7 percent increase from episode 16. In the Seoul metropolitan area, the ratings even reached 21.9 percent.
“SKY Castle” is a drama that tells the story of women in the top 0.1 percent and their fights of greed and veiled enmity. When the drama first premiered last November, it began with humble ratings of 1.7 percent, but has since shot up to impressive numbers as the drama spread through word of mouth. Ratings continue to rise, even with the recent news that the scripts for episode 17 and 18 were leaked and circulated online.
The drama has been breaking JTBC’s record for highest drama viewership ratings, but it may soon break the record for all cable channel dramas. The currently record holder is tvN’s 2016 hit drama “Goblin,” which peaked at 20.5 percent in nationwide viewership ratings. “SKY Castle” has three episodes left and is already sitting at 19.9 percent, and it will be interesting to see if the drama is able to set a new record before it ends on January 26.
