Another poster for Shin Ye Eun, Ryeoun, Kang Hoon, and Jung Gun Joo’s newest drama is out!
Based on the hit web novel of the same name, SBS’s “The Secret Romantic Guesthouse” is a mystery romance about an unconventional boarding house and three students who stay there as lodgers. Shin Ye Eun will star as Yoon Dan Oh, the owner of boarding house Yihwawon, while Ryeoun, Kang Hoon, and Jung Gun Joo will play three “flower scholars” who rent rooms—and are each hiding their own secrets.
The newest poster captures the nine cast members — Shin Ye Eun, Ryeoun, Kang Hoon, Jung Gun Joo, Oh Man Seok, Han Chae Ah, In Gyo Jin, Lee Mi Do, and Hyun Woo — in front of a mysterious shadow in the background. With each character harboring their own secrets, the poster previews turbulent tension between them.
At the very top of the poster is Lee Chang (Hyun Woo), who became the king of Joseon by plotting a rebellion. Holding a Geomungo (traditional Korean instrument), Lee Chang exudes an intimidating aura true to his reputation as a vicious King with his cold gaze and grim expression.
Attention is also drawn to Yoon Dan Oh who is the only one smiling among the nine characters. With her standing at the center of the poster, the characters are divided into two opposite sides: people on her left side representing those from Yoon Dan Oh’s guesthouse Yihwawon while those on her right side are from the largest guest house Buyeonggak. Despite Yoon Dan Oh’s bright smile, other essential figures of Yihwawon such as Kang San (Ryeoun) and Kim Si Yeol (Kang Hoon) wear undecipherable expressions that seem somehwat icy and perplexed, making viewers curious if it has something to do with them being placed the closest to Lee Chang.
Among the three flower scholars, Jung Yoo Ha (Jung Gun Joo) stands the closest to Yoon Dan Oh. While Jung Yoo Ha looks like he’s cautiously observing his surrounding, Yuk Yuk Ho (In Gyo Jin), the oldest boarding student at Yihwawon and Na Jung Daek (Lee Mi Do) pique curiosity as they glaze at other Yihwawon’s members with worried eyes.
Hinting at the upcoming heated conflict between members of the two guest houses, Jang Tae Hwa (Oh Man Seok), the real owner of Buyeonggak, and Hwa Ryeong (Han Chae Ah), the one in charge of running Buyeonggak are seen posing opposite Yoon Dan Oh. Earning the nicknames of “Joseon’s best warrior” and “Iron Woman” respectively, Jang Tae Hwa and Hwa Ryeong exude powerful charisma with their sharp gazes and fierce confidence.
The production team commented, “The group poster shows the characteristics of the nine main roles of the drama and the mysteries surrounding them all at once,” and added, “Please tune in to the [premiere] of ‘The Secret Romantic Guesthouse’ to find out what secrets Shin Ye Eun, Ryeoun, Kang Hoon, Jung Gun Joo, Oh Man Seok, Han Chae Ah, In Gyo Jin, Lee Mi Do, and Hyun Woo’s characters are hiding.”
