Recap Korean Drama "The Golden Spoon (2022)" Episode 3

The Golden Spoon episode 3 starts off with Seung-cheon creating a ruckus at Park Jang-gun’s house. He later visits Hwang Hyun-do’s office and while waiting in his cabin he finds Hyun-do’s will which states that he will not be passing on any assets to his son. This shocks him but pulls himself together and greets Hyun-do.

He tells him that he has created some problems and will solve them himself and requests him to go with the flow, which is accepted by Hyun-do. Seung-cheon then makes his way to the hospital and reveals the truth about Jang-gun in front of his parents and smoothly makes his exit.

He then takes Tae-yong back home where he sees the landlord making a ruckus once again. He once again witnesses his father being humiliated by the landlord but does not step up to do anything and only sighs that he made the right choice of switching parents.

The next day Seung-cheon’s father Lee Chul finds a job at one of the demolition sights where a protest is going on. Finally being able to earn something, he brings home a cake for his son’s birthday. The next day, Tae-yong is greeted by the sight of seaweed soup made by his mom and shows his gratefulness for having her with him.

On the other hand, Seung-cheon is ready for his birthday celebration party and is set to impress Hyun-do by giving him a surprise to show his capability. Elsewhere, Ju-hee is wondering how to get to Seung-cheon’s house when she meets the mysterious granny who knows about Seung-cheon and Tae-yong.

She then passes to Ju-hee a letter for “Tae-yong” which needs to be given to him as soon as possible. Ju-hee takes it and first goes to meet “Seung-cheon” at his house where she is intrigued by the run-down place he lives in. However, she soon receives a call from her father urging her to hurry to the party, leaving her with no choice.

Back at the party, Seun-cheon succeeds in impressing Hyun-do in front of everyone and is on his best behaviour throughout the day. Whereas Ju-hee has made it to the party along with Tae-yong. Right then Seo Young-shin (Tae-yong’s stepmother) calls for Seung-cheon to play the piano, but before he can make it there, Tae-yong plays the piano for everyone.

He then leaves there while Ju-hee comes over to pass on the letter to Seung-cheon. The letter is a warning for Seung-cheon that lets him know that if either of the two boys were to meet their real parents on their birthdays then the spell will be undone and they will go back to their original lives.

This freaks him out as he frantically starts looking for Tae-yong. He soon finds him but barely avoids Tae-yong and Hyun-do from meeting each other. Later that evening, Hyun-do shows his approval towards “Tae-yong’s” behaviour and his effort in trying to impress him. He lets Young-shin know that his will isn’t too hard to change which fills her with fear as she later gives someone a call.

The next day, he meets up with Ju-hee and finds out that she has visited his real house which fills him up with embarrassment as he starts bad-mouthing “Seung-cheon”. This then makes Ju-hee confess that she has feelings for Seung-cheon which leaves him speechless.

On the other hand, Jang Moon-ki (Tae-yong’s bodyguard) witnesses Lee Seung-a putting up a fight with the landlord who tried peeking at her in the washroom. She starts beating them up which makes him rush in to stop her, only to be beaten himself.

The group then make their way to the police station and Monn-ki helps Seung-a get out of trouble. Later, he discusses this with Seung-cheon and during their conversation, the incident from five years back that traumatised Tae-yong came up. However, not much was spoken about this which leaves Seung-cheon wondering what had happened.

Seung-cheon then starts thinking about the landlord and decides to teach him a lesson the next day. With Moon-ki by his side, he succeeds in his mission and finally helps his family get rid of this trouble.

While on the way back home, a strange woman passes by in front of his car and goes to the stop where he had met the mysterious granny.

The next day, Seung-cheon is frustrated while looking at Tae-yong and Ju-hee playing together. Later that night, he goes to see Ju-hee at the convenience store and notices a strange man staring at her. He is not assured by this situation and later tries calling Ju-hee after her shift.

But soon he sees her pushed to the wall while the man is strangling her neck. He rushes to save her and succeeds in this. Ju-hee then explains to him that the man was her friend’s father who passed away while in middle school.

She tells him that her friend was made to leave school after she was caught stealing her watch, but a few months later she passed away due to acute leukaemia. However, her friend’s father has been blaming Ju-hee since then.

Seung-cheon asks her if this is the reason why she has been so good to “Seung-cheon” but she tells him that these two people are not related and that her feelings for Seung-cheon are real.

Later, Seung-cheon enters Hyun-do’s study and tries to find something to help him make a good impression on the latter but is caught by Hyun-do. He then confronts Seung-cheon by asking him if he had seen the will.

Seung-cheon tells him the truth and asks for a chance to prove himself which is given to him by Hyun-do.

The next day, Seung-cheon happily goes to class but notices a weird message on his phone. He chooses to ignore it until he sees the forgotten letter sent by the granny on his phone and another message asking him if he is not Tae-yong.

The Golden Spoon Episode 3 Review

This episode didn’t have much happening as it focused on the forgotten rule and the birthdays of the two boys. However, it was still a fun episode to watch and there is no doubt that the story is only going to go upward from this point.

Once again, Seung-cheon’s character keeps getting better but the real scene stealer in this episode has to be Jang Moon-ki.

Altogether, the show is finally taking off in a proper way and the upcoming episodes will be worthwhile.
