Recap Korean Drama "The Golden Spoon (2022)" Episode 2

The Golden Spoon (금수저) is a drama-thriller TV series that follows the story of a young man who is given the chance to change and leave behind his poor life in exchange for the lavish life of his friend. Directed by Song Hyun-wook, the drama stars Yook Sung-jae, Lee Jong-won, Jung Chae-yeon, Yeon Woo and Choi Dae-chul, alongside other cast members.

The 16 episodes drama premiered on September 23, 2022, and releases new episodes every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 PM KST on MBC taking over the timeslot previously occupied by Big Mouth. The Golden Spoon episode 2 has a run time of 77 minutes.

The Golden Spoon episode 2 starts off with Seung-cheon desperately searching for the golden spoon and making his way into Tae-yong’s house where he asks Hwang Hyun-do for a meal. On the other hand, Tae-yong is making his way back home but stops the car and starts to run.

Seung-cheon uses the spoon for the third time and calls Hyun-do father in an informal way which makes the latter question. This makes Seung-cheon think that the spoon did not work, but Na Ju-hee barges inside and calls him Tae-yong. This makes him realise that the spoon has worked its magic and he is now Tae-yong.

On the other hand, because of the spoon’s magic, Tae-yong is unable to understand who he is or what is happening. And while standing in the middle of the road he collapses and is taken to the hospital.

Back to Seung-cheon, the police arrive to take Tae-yong to ask some questions with regard to Seung-cheon’s disappearance. The real Seung-cheon then goes with them to the police station and sees footage of the moment when he was hanging from the bridge. However, instead of him, it is the real Tae-yong who is hanging there.

This confirms that he has really exchanged lives with Tae-yong. While leaving his family comes surrounds him and asks about their son, but he is flustered by this and soon the news comes that the real Tae-yong is in the hospital.

Tae-yong wakes up to see Seung-cheon’s mother and calls out to her while feeling a familiar yet unfamiliar feeling. Seung-cheon too makes his way there, but when he comes face to face with Tae-yong, the latter calls him Seung-cheon. This shocks him but seeing that Tae-yong is still in a confused space, he doesn’t say anything.

Elsewhere, Hyun-do worries that someone has witnessed the incident and can cause more trouble for him in the future, so he sends someone to investigate. On the other hand, Seung-cheon makes his way to Tae-yong’s house and looks around while trying to find his room.

While everyone notices the difference in him, they blame it on the incident that took place that evening. Seung-cheon is excited by the new life he is going to be living and takes out the spoon to see a 30 engraved at its end.

He then remembers the old lady’s words who said that he will be given three chances to change his parents. First in 30 days, second in 1 year and third in 10 years. As soon as the clock strikes 12, he sees the number change to 29 and now completely believes in its magic.

The next day, he makes his way to school and sees everyone staring at him. He then makes his way to class but accidentally sits in his original seat which confuses the class. His previous bully Park Jang-goon then tries to flatter him as he did for Tae-yong but Seung-cheon ignores him.

He makes his way to the headteacher’s office, where they start to butter him again. Annoyed by them buttering him while also complaining about “Seung-cheon”, he leaves but not before ratting out Park Jang-goon.

He then sees Jang-goon bullying his former friends and saving them while also taking his revenge on him. But while leaving, he meets Ju-hee who warns him to not trouble “Seung-cheon”, but instead of answering this, he questions why the daughter of a rich family had been working at a convenience store.

He is confused by her worries for “Seung-cheon” but while leaving he is stopped by Oh Yeo-jin who tells him that it is because she was the reason a student had previously died. He is not interested in the story and wants to leave, but she stops him and ends up kissing him which leaves him flustered.

Elsewhere, Tae-yong wakes up at Seung-cheon’s house and it is clear that he hasn’t completely had his memories altered. But slowly with the people around him, he starts accepting the new memories that are coming to him.

On the other hand, Seung-cheon has adapted to his life at Tae-yong’s house as he is able to make out the kind of person Hyun-do really is. However, what he does not know is that Hyun-do has kept his eyes on him the whole time and the matter of his recent expenditures is also known to him.

Tae-yong has also adapted to this household that is filled with warmth when suddenly they receive Seung-cheon’s gifts sent to his family.

The scene then shifts to the regular meal that Tae-yong would share with his father every Friday when Seung-cheon’s actions don’t go missing from Hyun-do’s eyes. They are soon joined by Ju-hee and her father and Seung-cheon gets to know that Ju-hee is Tae-yong’s fiance.

However, the meal takes a drastic turn when Ju-hee cancels the engagement between the two families and leaves while Seung-cheon follows behind her. The two end up at the convenience store where Seung-cheon helps her out with miscellanious tasks which make her attitude towards him better.

However, upon reaching home, she is scolded by her elder brother until saved by her father who also expresses his disappointment. Elsewhere, Jang-goon is being beaten up by his father for having cheated in the exam which enrages him as he thinks that Seung-cheon has tattled on him.

The Golden Spoon Episode 2 Ending

The Golden Spoon episode 2 ends with Seung-cheon noticing Tae-yong’s stepmother loitering around his desk as he quickly checks if the spoon is still in its place after she leaves. He then accidentally opens Tae-yong’s secret drawer where a picture of his birth mother and a drawing of Ju-hee is found.

The next day, Seung-cheon’s mother returns the gifts that were sent to her by “Tae-yong” which leaves him saddened. Upon reaching school, Tae-yong still maintains his previous aura while dealing with Seung-cheon and others. He then meets up with Ju-hee who brings up the convenience store which triggers more memories in his head.

But then Jang-goon arrives with his friends and takes Tae-yong away with him to bully him at his house. While Tae-yong is unable to shed away his previous aura, things change when the boys start hitting him.

Elsewhere, Ju-hee has come to visit her dead friend wheel Seung-cheon has come to do the same. But he soon gets to know that Jang-goon has taken away Tae-yong, and upon remembering the bullying he faced there, he rushes to Jang-goon’s house.

Upon reaching there, he stops the boys and picks up a rifle and starts to tease the bullies. He then loads it with a bullet and points it towards them just like they had once done to him.

The Golden Spoon Episode 2 Review

The story has begun and the boys are slowly living their new lives. However, this is just the beginning and while it may seem to be all rainbows, trouble is soon to arrive for sure.

The show is slowly getting exciting and we cannot wait for what is to come.
