May It Please the Court episode 2 starts with Si-baek being taken aback after learning that she tried to kill herself after meeting with her attorney. Meanwhile, we also see Chak-hee actually did tell Soon-young to end her life but only so that she can bring the truth to the surface. Otherwise, Kangsung Pharm will simply spin the tale in their favour.
Chak-hee admonish Soo-young for actually trying to kill herself and tells her how the trial will go and what people are going to say so that the focus shifts from the pills. However, she refuses to continue being her lawyer since things will be messy otherwise. She promises that she will get a lawyer as good as her and tells her that she has paid back the debt that she owed her.

Outside the penitentiary, her good memories of Soo-young are halted by Si-baek, who reams into her for pushing Soo-young to suicide. However, she points out that he does the exact same thing as her; he just gets paid less. As Jang Gi-do finds the perfect person to front the ESG team, Chak-hee goes to her grandmother’s burial site to unload her feelings, closely followed by Si-baek.
As it turns out, their loved ones are lying next to each other. Either way, Chak-hee calls and asks to meet him that day when she gives him the research on the pills that will put Si-baek at an advantage.
Back in the present, Chak-hee gets arrested, much to her disbelief. At the holding cell, Si-baek calls her a bad person but assures her that he didn’t turn her in. In turn, he asks her for some missing pages from the file missing. With no idea about what is going on, Chak-hee is stuck in the police station and right as she is about to give up hope, Si-baek comes to her rescue.
Outside the station, he points out that she was probably put in prison by her own company. Now that Kangsung’s work is done, they want to get rid of their hunting dog. After Si-baek leaves, she goes to ask the detective who turned her in and after a little nudge, it turns out that it was Jang Gi-do. Chak-hee is heartbroken and looks absolutely defeated.

When she goes to the office the next day, she finds her office getting cleared out, and she goes to a meeting with Gi-do, fully aware of what’s to come. Thus, when she does go into his room, she immediately goes down on her knee and asks for forgiveness. Unfortunately, the act of betraying the law firm comes at a steep cost, and she gets a 1-year suspension for misconduct.
As she packs up her life, she gives up everything that she loves to move Jungha. Meanwhile, Gi-do’s lawyer tells him that this is a good decision and stops others from saying that she got her job thanks to her connection with Byung-chun. At Jungha, Chak-hee refuses to stay in her rooftop apartment, but without much choice, this is where she probably will be staying for the upcoming year.
However, one more challenge awaits Chak-hee as she realises that she’ll have to work out of the Northern District office – that is, with Si-baek. The latter seems excited at the prospect of a new colleague, completely unaware that it’s Chak-hee. Thus, when they do come face to face, he’s in disbelief.
Either way, as the day comes to an end, Chak-hee gets blown off by both of her colleagues and standing under the rain without an umbrella or a car, she gets picked up by Cho Hyun-sik who gives her the opportunity to work at his company’s legal team. However, that comes with some very bad strings.

Hyun-sik tries to assault her in the car sexually and forces her to go to a hotel, but she keeps his advances at bay, and Si-baek comes in as a knight in shining armour to get her out of the sticky situation. Chak-hee stops him just in time so that he doesn’t punch him in the face. Afterwards, Si-baek drops Chak-hee home, and they share some lighthearted banter together, and Chak-hee seems to soften to Si-baek’s silliness.
Unfortunately, in spite of the brave face she put on outside, Chak-hee breaks down when she thinks back to what almost happened to her in the evening. That night, Chak-hee gets a rather scary phone call from Hyun-sik and although she dismisses it as him acting out again, it turns out that Hyun-sik is actually getting murdered by someone wearing all black and a distinctive watch.
The next day, as the detectives look into the case and try to figure out what happened, we see the owner of the watch, Si-baek, looking rather scary in his car.

You know, it was going great, and then Si-baek turned out to be a social justice warrior who turned to murder after being all cryptic with Chak-hee about bad people always paying the price. Now, if the series later tells me he has some sort of mental health disease that makes him forget about his alter ego, then I will lose my mind. It’s like watching Big Mouth, but not even close to as interesting.
Either way, I think May It Please the Court episode 2 is rather plain and is only beginning to pick up steam. We’ll have to wait and see how this one goes.
