Becoming Witch Episode 5 opens with Jin-a meeting Woo-bin, who has been following her wearing a black hoodie for a while now. Initially, she is thrilled but, later runs into panic. She takes Woo-bin to her house and cries to him about how he could leave her with his death and come back alive. She asks Woo-bin to leave but, before he can there is a knock on the door.
Hee-soo’s situation at the police station worsens as she confesses that she killed her mother-in-law. She almost loses her mind shouting at every one if they are happy to hear from her what they wanted to know. With the confession, Mu-young’s family members also charge Hee-soo with fraud as in the last will her mother-in-law has left her with land she never wanted in the first place. She says that her mother-in-law asked her to kill her and also mentioned how she will be leaving the land in her name (we get the flashback of whispering from Becoming Witch Episode 3).
As for Ma-ri, things take a bloody turn. After we saw her running to find out what Nak-gu is up to in the last episode, we see her driving with Go-eun’s boyfriend chasing Nak-gu and Go-eun’s car as they descend to marry each other in a small church. Ma-ri tries to stop the car by coming in front of it but, that leads to an accident where Ma-ri, Go-eun and Nak-gu are injured. She and Nak-gu are later in an isolated hospital alone, recovering where Ma-ri keeps scaring her husband.

We get to see what actually happened to Hee-soo’s mother-in-law and how she passed away as she bids her last goodbye to her. She later finds a pen drive with a recording featuring her mother-in-law when she goes to the hospital administration to collect the things. Meanwhile, Nak-gu tries to escape the hospital and Jin-a gets a visit from her apartment realtor and buyer who figure out someone is living with her.
However, when they get inside the bathroom to check, Woo-bin hides in a bathtub and the issue does not come up. Woo-bin, although, drowns in the bathtub almost with the tap open. Jin-a saves Woo-bin.
