Recap "Forecasting Love and Weather" Episode 5 with Park Min Young, Song Kang

After the romantic encounter in the last episode, Si-woo’s happiness is short-lived as he grimaces and picks up his phone to talk to Yu-jin. He shouts at her to never call her since he refuses to do anything for her anymore – which Ha-kyung is an observer of. She asks him who that was and he says it’s someone he used to know. However, Ha-kyung knows something is up. Meanwhile, things aren’t looking great for Ki-jun and You-jin either.

Trying to be sneaky, Ha-kyung and Si-woo are caught by Seok-ho but it’s Ha-kyung who makes it hilariously awkward. But there are more pressing things to think about – flooding in some areas due to heavy rain. During the discussion, while keeping an eye out for the rain, Ha-kyung senses some awkwardness, especially when he goes off somewhere. Si-woo, meanwhile, meets Yu-jin, who asks her why someone is calling her although everything is over between them and then blames him for her marital problems.

Unfortunately, Ki-jun finds them talking but his beef is with Si-woo. He asks the latter why he talked to the reporters instead of going to the spokespersons. He talks to Ha-kyung next and it quickly turns to him asking her whether she’s not over him yet. Either way, Ha-kyung kicks him in the shins and asks him not to harass her anymore. Back at the desk, Si-woo senses Ha-kyung’s hostility and asks her whether she is angry with him. Before she can react, though, the entire office looks at her and she ushers him outside to have a chat.

But the question was a ploy to get her alone at the kitchen where he hugs her and asks her why Ki-jun called her to talk. Ha-kyung asks him why he gets to ask her questions like this but she can’t. Si-woo playfully asks her whether that’s why she is angry but she assures him that she’s not angry at him – just at the fact that she didn’t catch that nasty cold air! They promise to meet that night.

Unfortunately for Ha-kyung, though, rumours start going around that she’s a heartless director who takes out her anger and frustration on her team. It hurts her which is understandable. But before there’s time to think about that and Seok-ho’s questions, Dong-han’s oversight catches the city unawares, causing a huge downpour. The entire city is absolutely pissed and so is Ha-kyung. She berates her team members which results in everyone being annoyed at her and Su-jin running off crying.

The Director-General is pissed but Si-woo tries to talk to Su-jin and makes her understand why Ha-kyung wanted the data. The explanation makes her understand. On the other hand, Myung-joo asks Ha-kyung to have faith in her position and orders, only then will her team have faith in her. That night, Ha-kyung joins Dong-han at the search area where two people went missing while a frustrated Si-woo leaves the liquor store after not getting any reply from Ha-kyung. An oblivious Ha-kyung spends the evening drinking with Dong-han.

Si-woo goes to a shady hotel and meets someone there and incidentally, Ha-kyung is also there with a very drunk Dong-han. Both look at each other like they have seen a ghost and ask each other why they are there.

I don’t like it. I don’t like this odd extortion plot that the series is trying to introduce. Forecasting Love and Weather somewhat promised me of an office romance which is light and with some problems peppered here and there. But this extortion thing is not it. I really hope they add something worthwhile instead of it being his drunk/druggie father who wants to ruin his life or something.

Other than that, the episode was quite nice. With less comedy, but still enjoyable. I felt like the intensity of the workplace somewhat dwindled today and I would’ve liked it if it was there more. However, Si-woo and Ha-kyung hugging it out in the office kitchen is cute max and I think I can live with it. Hoping for a better next episode
