Queen of Tears Episode 10 Recap
The episode begins with Soo-cheol ending up at Hyun-woo’s brother’s gym. He meets with the brother, who tells him about Hyun-woo’s ability as a boxer. Shocked at discovering Hyun-woo’s elusive past, Soo-cheol looks dumbfounded. Hyun-woo fights the broker and wins against three gangsters. He gives the broker a legal notice and gets him arrested.
We move back to the ending scene of the previous episode where Hae-in comes across Eun-sung. He tells her that he knows about her condition but to know how to help her live, he needs to be her guardian. He threatens her to come back to Queens Group and live with him or he will tell her parents about her condition. He gives her two days to make her decision when Soo-cheol sees him and goes to fight him but he falls to the floor instead.
He asks him about Da-hye but Eun-sung just smirks at him and walks away. Hae-in, Soo-cheol and Hyun-woo’s brother walk back home and Hae-in tells Soo-cheol not to talk about the interaction. While Soo-cheol protests, her scary gaze shuts him up.
Hyun-woo finally reaches home and Hae-in sees his beat-up state. She takes him to the room and demands to see all his injuries. She hilariously takes off his shirt while Hyun-woo gets nervous. She asks him about his injured state and he tells her about the broker. She asks him to promise that he will run away next time but he does not make that promise. She threatens him that if he gets beaten up again, she will be the one to kill him.
The next day, Soo-cheol tries to tell Hyun-woo about Eun-sung but Hae-in walks in to stop him. Hyun-woo and Hae-in spend some together and talk about the ‘what ifs’ like what if they worked on the wounds they received during the marriage and would it change them? To that, Hae-in tells him that it would have been better if they never got married and broke off earlier. That way, Hyun-woo would be able to meet someone better. Hyun-woo immediately disagreed with that and told her that he would always look out for her and live in regret. He also expresses his regrets about how he handled their marriage, leaving them feeling intense emotions.
In the next scene, Hyun-woo finds out that he has been reassigned due to malpractice. Eun-sung meets him and tells him about his meeting with Hae-in, making Hyun-woo feel jealous. But Hyun-woo hits back with his encounter with the broker – cracking Eun-sung’s cool facade.
Grace Goh meets with Sol-hee when the latter tells her that she will fulfil all her demands if she can find the Chairman without Eunsung knowing. Lured by the money, she gets to it immediately but gets caught by Hyun-woo, his friend and Beom-ja. They threaten her with her illegal activities, bucking Grace Goh to her place. They begin looking for the Chairman, making sure Grace Goh keeps her mouth shut.
Soo-cheol, on the other hand, gets obsessive about talking to Da-hye when he remembers the online game they would play as a couple. He waits for her to come online when he messages her regarding their son’s vaccination routines. Da-hye becomes emotional at Soo-cheol’s gesture as he still cares for Geon-u even after knowing he is not his son.
Hae-in’s mother becomes frustrated by the village ladies who insinuate that she will be poor for a while. She goes to a cafe to cool off but realises she cannot pay for her drink. Right then, Hyun-woo’s mother pays for her and gets her to work at the pear farm. After a day of hard work, Hae-in’s mother eats more than usual and sleeps without her sleep medication.
In the night, the fathers bond over losing their kingdoms – Hyun-woo’s father as a village head and Hae-in’s father with the Queens Group. They drink and watch a drama that has chaebols. Hyun-woo’s father learns about the rich person’s life and how they have many people around them to remain in their top condition. Hae-in finds out about Hyun-woo’s condition at work and calls Eun-sung. He snarkily tells her that he will go to any lengths to get what he wants. She seemingly decides at that moment.
The estranged couple meet in the night and Hyun-woo expresses his frustration over Eun-sung’s demands as well as Hae-in’s compliance. He tries to make her understand but she coldly draws a line between them – making him feel bad. The next day, Hyun-woo’s mother overhears Hae-in’s conversation regarding her treatment and immediately asks Hyun-woo.
He emotionally explains everything to her and requests her to take care of Hae-in even when he is not around. He also tells her his initial reaction, making her mad at his behaviour. Regretting his actions, he cries in front of her while she feels bad for Hae-in. She cooks up a feast for Hae-in and makes sure Hae-in eats. Later, Hae-in leaves for Seoul when her mother stops her and accuses her of looking out for herself. Feeling hurt, she resigns to indifference but Hyun-woo’s mother comes in time and drops her off to get a taxi in her tractor.
Grace Goh finds the location of the Chairman and Beom-ja runs to meet him but Sol-hee follows them with a plethora of bodyguards. Hae-in, on the other hand, makes her way to the Queens Group building. Hyun-woo finds out about Hae-in’s decision through her assistant and runs to find her. Hae-in dresses up for a press conference and she tells Eun-sung that she is doing what she needs to do so he must keep his promise.
Hyun-woo catches up to them and Hae-in keeps a stoic expression, telling him coldly that she is making her own decisions and she no longer needs his help. Frustrated at Hae-in’s demands and Eun-sung’s smug expression, Hyun-woo is rendered speechless. Before the conference, an individual briefs them about the announcements – Hae-in’s return and their marriage announcement.
They come in front of a dozen reporters and Eun-sung begins with a cocky speech about being long-time friends with Hae-in as well as his plan for Queens Group. Hyun-woo listens on with tears in his eyes as Hae-in agrees with Eun-sung. Just as Hyun-woo leaves dejectedly, Hae-in changes her posture and reveals the threats made to her and Hyun-woo by Eun-sung.
Shocked at her move, Eun-sung tries to stop her but she continues. She also reveals her medical condition, sighting as a reason for her not to return as Queens Department Stores’ CEO. Eun-sung remains slack-jawed as Hyun-woo and Hae-in share a silent emotional moment. The epilogue gives us two scenes.
The first scene is from their dating days where Hae-in shouts at Hyun-woo for showing his cute and loveable drunk side to other women. She demands that he will only be drunk around her so no other women can see him like that. They share a sweet moment as a young couple in love.
The second scene is in the present time where Hyun-woo drunkenly comes in front of Hae-in’s room where he pulls leaves from a stem to see if she likes him. It ends with her liking him and he drunkenly confesses that she may like him but he loves her. At that time, Hae-in listens from the other side of the door and feels dumbfounded at his sudden confession.
The episode gave us a lot of lovely moments shared between Hyun-woo and Hae-in. Hyun-woo and Hae-in finally had a conversation regarding their behaviour as a married couple. Even though it did not change much it is a positive sign that they are communicating. Hyun-woo also got to see how much Hae-in loves and cares for him. The way she carries the ointment and band-aids with her just shows how much she thinks of him.
Hae-in shone in the last few scenes. She showed Eun-sung the true dragon of the Queens Group with her calculated move. While Eun-sung may love or care for her, all he knows is to get things through deceit – making him the villain in their story. We hope to see Hae-in and Hyun-woo fight Eun-sung and show him his place.
