Pyo Ye Jin has shared her thoughts on reprising her role as the “golden maknae” in Season 2 of “Taxi Driver”!
Based on the webtoon of the same name, SBS’s “Taxi Driver” tells the story of a mysterious taxi service that delivers justice and revenge on behalf of victims who cannot get help from the law. Following the first season’s successful run in 2021, “Taxi Driver” is returning for a second season later this month.
Pyo Ye Jin left a lasting impression on viewers of “Taxi Driver” with her portrayal of Ahn Go Eun, an IT specialist and hacker who’s known as the “golden maknae” of the Rainbow Taxi team. Although a little cold, Ahn Go Eun made up for it with her clever and bold charms.
Recalling Season 1, Pyo Ye Jin shared, “It was fascinating to see the scenarios in the drama get re-examined with comparisons to real-life cases and I felt that much more responsibility.” She added, “Personally, I really wanted to portray Go Eun well and I felt happiest and most proud to hear the reaction, ‘There was a side like this to Pyo Ye Jin?'” The actress then added that she has focused lots of tone, personality, and even styling to showcase how Ahn Go Eun has matured and become stronger in Season 2.
Pyo Ye Jin revealed that before the new season was confirmed, she had quietly been hoping that “Taxi Driver” would return. She explained, “Since I had been consistently waiting, there wasn’t much of a decision to make [about appearing in the drama]. It was instead an honor to be able to live once more as Ahn Go Eun of the Rainbow Luck team. It feels like I’ve finally returned to where I’m supposed to be.”
On the main cast’s deep friendship, Pyo Ye Jin commented, “Even after the end of Season 1, we consistently kept in contact and met up. I think we talked about our anticipation for Season 2 with each other every time. It’s definitely more comfortable and familiar than last season so it feels like everything falls right into place even if we don’t say anything. Especially on days where we’re filming together on the basement garage set, it’s fun because we’re busy chatting and laughing and the set atmosphere is great.”
The actress chose the increased extravagance of the episodes and the alternate play within them as a key reason to tune in to the new season before adding, “In addition to driver Kim Do Gi [Lee Je Hoon], all members of the Rainbow Luck team will showcase team play that is one step more colorful. I’m confident that you’ll be able to watch very enjoyably and refreshingly.”
She emphasized, “I personally really like the message of ‘Taxi Driver’ and I think it’s cool that within the fun, there are real-life cases and societal issues that are worth thinking about and discussing. I hope you enjoy and chat with us lots this time too.”
Finally, to viewers, Pyo Ye Jin shared, “Something I felt while working on Season 2 is that this kind of precious opportunity would never have arose if it wasn’t for all the love from viewers. I sincerely thank you for loving the ‘Taxi Driver’ series. We’re filming really diligently to give back that love so I hope you enjoy once again.”
“Taxi Driver 2” will premiere on February 17 at 10 p.m. KST!
