Kakao TV’s “How About a Cup of Coffee?” previewed Ong Seong Wu’s transformation into a barista!
Based on a manhwa (Korean comic) by Heo Young Man, “How About a Cup of Coffee?” is about a young man named Kang Go Bi (Ong Seong Wu), whose passion for coffee leads him to become a rookie barista at a coffee shop owned by Park Seok (Park Ho San). This emotional human drama shows what Kang Go Bi learns about coffee and people through his work and tells the various stories of their neighborhood coffee shop customers.
Ong Seong Wu has already received much praise for his acting, starting with his debut project “Moments of 18.” He continued to impress with his following work “More Than Friends,” and now he’ll be building his acting skills once more through his role as a rookie barista who’s passionate about his career.
In his upcoming project, Ong Seong Wu will transform into Kang Go Bi, who has an innocent passion for coffee to the extent that it’s almost reckless. He continuously works hard to learn more and has a persistent and stubborn yet slightly immature personality. The actor will depict different aspects of his character, from when he got a bitter taste of life after continuously failing his civil service exams, to his growth after blindly taking on the challenge of becoming a barista in order to pursue his dream. Ong Seong Wu will naturally portray an ordinary person of a generation marked by people who continue to chase after their dreams even after experiencing failures while searching for a job.
Before filming for the drama, Ong Seong Wu personally received lessons on brewing coffee to make his role as a barista look even more natural. He also led various conversations about coffee on set with the production team and cast, highlighting his great affection for the subject. Furthermore, Ong Seong Wu and his on-screen mentor Park Ho San showcased their knowledge about coffee in a recent coffee blind test video on Kakao TV’s social media account as well.
Ong Seong Wu commented, “My role as Kang Go Bi is that of a figure who doesn’t fear failure and works hard for his dream with pure feelings, to the point that it’s sometimes reckless. I hope you look forward to seeing Kang Go Bi growing into a real barista after taking on challenges and learning while meeting people within 2Dae Coffee.”
“How About a Cup of Coffee?” premieres on October 24 and will air a total of 12 25-minute episodes every Thursday and Sunday at 5 p.m. KST through KakaoTV.
