Episode 5 of Oh! Youngsim (also called Oh! Young Shim, Oh! Young-shim, and Oh! Youngsimi) begins on a comedic note but ends on a serious one.
This episode picks up with Chae-dong running into Wol-sook outside Young-sim’s house. Chae-dong carries a package for Young-sim, and Wol-sook asks him if he will team up with her.
Inside, Wol-sook and Chae-dong sit across from a flustered Young-sim and Kyeong-tae, who just shared an embarrassing moment in the bathroom just a minute before their guest’s arrival.
Still recovering from the shower incident, Kyeong-tae’s watch alarm starts going off, alerting him that his heart rate is too high. Chae-dong tells Wol-sook that Young-sim and Kyeong-tae are doing a dating show, and Wol-sook insists that she become a part of it. She tries to use her leverage as a dating content YouTuber, pointing out that none of them have dated anyone recently, to bait them into letting her help. They take the bait!
As Wol-sook and Chae-dong leave, Chae-dong tells Wol-sook that it is better that Young-sim and Kyeong-tae be split up, and Wol-sook agrees.
In bed that night, Kyeong-tae struggles to sleep and dreams about the bathroom incident.
Going back to the day before, Jo-yoo walks by the bathroom and hears voices. She peeks in to see Young-sim, in her towel, laying on top of a half-dressed Keyong-tae. She runs back to her room and sends a message to Chae-dong about what she saw.
The next morning, Kyeong-tae and Young-sim awkwardly avoid each other as they both head to work. Once they get there, Young-sim pitches her new show idea, and Kyeong-tae gives her a hard time, arguing with her about her ideas. But he gets distracted by her lips and recalls the bathroom incident again, causing his heart rate to rise and his watch alarm to go off again.
Meanwhile, Young-sim glares at him, annoyed, and Chae-dong recalls the message that Ji-yoo sent him and angrily walks out of the room when asked for his opinion. Kyeong-tae joins Chae-dong in the bathroom. Chae-dong glares at him over the urinal, peeks over the side, looks down, and scoffs. He tells Kyeong-tae that he will drag him away from Young-sim’s house if he doesn’t stop staying there. Hilariously, he looks down and scoffs again before leaving.
Back in the meeting room, Kyeong-tae and Youg-sim argue over Kingvely’s product placement when Wol-sook interrupts with an idea to help resolve their disagreements—a work retreat.
And just like that, the team is off to a beach property that Kyeong-tae owns. They start off with a fighting match, Keyong-tae versus Chae-dong. If Chae-dong wins, he and Young-sim get to decide the production budget, and if Kyeong-tae wins, Kingvely gets mega product placements, including the cast’s wardrobe being entirely Kingvely clothing. The two try to flip each other over while Wol-sook hypes Chae-dong up, emphasizing his strength, presumably as part of the deal they made. But he takes the loss as Kyeong-tae flips him over.
The next game starts: a three-legged race with Kyeong-tae and Wol-sook as one team and Young-sim and Chae-dong as the other team. This time the stakes are a budget decrease or the production company’s name bannered across the Kingvely website, plus hotel vouchers for the whole staff. Wol-sook pretends to be clumsy, securing the win for the other team.
Later, the team gathers for dinner, but Kyeong-tae leaves early, limping to a beachside chair. Young-sim notices and follows him. She pulls his swollen leg onto her lap and tends to it while he protests. Lyeong-tae asks why she isn’t leaving him alone, and she tells him that he saved her life from drowning all those years ago.
The Oh! Youngsim cartoon displays and Youngsim struggles to swim in the ocean water, calling for help. Kyeong-tae jumps in, but he can’t swim, and he calls for others to help, telling them to save Young-sim first. Young-sim is pulled to the beach, unconscious. Kyeong-tae does mouth-to-mouth CPR, and she wakes up in shock.
In real life, Keong-tae asks about how Young-sim’s dad is doing, and she replies that his health and lack of inspiration have restricted him from drawing as many cartoons as he would like, which leads into a conversation where she finally asks why Kyoeng-tae left without saying goodbye all those years ago. He is about to answer when Wol-sook calls them back to dinner.
Everyone is playing a drinking game. Kyeong-tae draws out a question, asking if he believes first love comes true. After some hesitation, he says yes. When it’s his turn again, he is asked whether he likes someone who is in the game. The consequence for not answering would be to link arms with the person to his right (Chae-dong) and drink together. The episode ends with Young-sim looking at him, anxiously anticipating his answer.
The tiff between Kyeong-tae and Chae-dong is pretty funny this time around. It definitely seems like Kyeong-tae has been getting the advantage over Dong-dong, who was completely oblivious when Young-sim walked after him at the dinner gathering. And twice, they’ve left us hanging when Kyeong-tae is about to hash out his feelings. Talk about a teaser.
