Lee Se Young has shared her thoughts on her upcoming drama “The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract” (literal translation)!
Based on the webtoon of the same name, MBC’s “The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract” is a time-slip romance drama about the contractual marriage between bachelor Kang Tae Ha (played by Bae In Hyuk) and Park Yeon Woo (Lee Se Young), who has traveled to modern day from 19th century Joseon.
The drama has now shared a new glimpse of Lee Se Young’s character in the Joseon era, before she mysteriously wakes up in the present. Although she is the precious only daughter of the Minister of the Interior, Park Yeon Woo secretly leads a double life as the “butterfly teacher,” who sells clothing and embroidered goods that she has made using her expert craftsmanship. Despite living in the Joseon era, when it was hard for women to express themselves and live the lives they wanted, the unmarried Park Yeon Woo has always been determined to chase her dreams.
In newly released stills from the upcoming drama, Park Yeon Woo finds herself in danger of being caught while secretly going about her business as her alter ego, the “butterfly teacher.” Will she be able to escape the situation with her identity undiscovered?
When asked why she chose to star in “The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract,” Lee Se Young replied, “What made up my mind was the script. When I first read the script, it was so entertaining that I read it without even realizing how much time had passed. So I was really looking forward to the drama when I joined it.”
Describing the character of Park Yeon Woo, Lee Se Young remarked, “Above all else, she’s honest about her feelings, and she’s a character who is firm in her own convictions but also knows how to be flexible.”
As for how she prepared for the role, the actress recalled, “In order to do a good job pulling off the character, I was really diligent about reading the script.” She went on, “Because Park Yeon Woo is a character with a lot of skills and talents, there was even a horseback riding scene in the drama, and I practiced horseback riding endlessly for that scene.”
Meanwhile, the drama’s production team praised Lee Se Young by commenting, “Lee Se Young’s acting is so flawless that it’s impossible to even imagine the role of Park Yeon Woo being played by anyone else.”
“The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract” will premiere in November.
