On the October 12 episode of KBS’s “Problem Child in House,” Ji Hyun Woo and Lee Se Hee appeared as guests. The two actors are currently starring in the KBS weekend drama “Young Lady and Gentleman.”
Lee Se Hee shared that this was the first time she had taken on a lead role in her five-year career and that she had beat out 500 other candidates in the audition process. She said, “The script was similar to my own life, so it was easy to get immersed in the emotions. I also worked hard to achieve my dream. I worked part-time at all sorts of places like restaurants, cafés, Japanese restaurants, and did questionnaire surveys.”
Lee Se Hee also recently appeared in tvN’s “Hospital Playlist 2.” She shared that the drama’s PD (producing director), Shin Won Ho, had an unusual audition process. “There was no script,” she said. “Normally they give you a script before the audition so you can rehearse before you go. But PD Shin Won Ho holds a personal discussion beforehand, and if he thinks you’re right for the role, he gives you multiple scripts and you read them right there on the spot. Even for the second audition, we have a personal discussion before we act with a script. He also told me to try different ways of acting, and then he told me that I had made it right there.”
Ji Hyun Woo talked about his kiss scenes and how he had filmed 10 in over the past three years. He picked the kiss scene with Choi Kang Hee in “My Sweet City” as his most romantic kiss scene and said, “It was a movie director’s first drama, so he wanted something detailed and realistic. We filmed it with great care.”
He added wittily that he changes up his kissing technique depending on the type of drama. “Viewers of weekend dramas tend to be older, so I act so that it doesn’t make them uncomfortable. The camera films the actors from a distance. In a mini-series, we kiss like real lovers do. These days, kiss scenes are filmed the way they do abroad.”
