Hit SBS drama “Taxi Driver” has shared photos from the cast’s first Season 2 script reading!
Based on a webtoon of the same name, “Taxi Driver” is about a mysterious taxi service that delivers justice and revenge on behalf of victims who cannot get help from the law. Following its successful run in 2021, “Taxi Driver” recorded the fourth-highest viewership ratings among all SBS Friday-Saturday dramas.
Present at the script reading were writer Oh Sang Ho, director Lee Dan, and cast members Lee Je Hoon, Kim Eui Sung, Pyo Ye Jin, Jang Hyun Jin, Bae Yoo Rim, Shin Jae Ha, and more.
The director kicked off the reading by sharing, “I wish for the best, where the beauty of the journey becomes the beauty of the result.” Writer Oh Sang Ho added, “There are too many villains who should not be forgotten and satire and humor are the best tools. If we focused on completing our universe in Season 1, Season 2 will use that worldview to make the genre more colorful.”
Lee Je Hoon will return for the lead role as Kim Do Gi, the main player of Rainbow Taxi’s revenge missions. Kim Eui Sung will once again play leader Jang Sung Cheol of the Rainbow Taxi team. Pyo Ye Jin will return as Ahn Go Eun, the IT specialist and hacker of the team, while Jang Hyuk Jin and Bae Yoo Ram will reprise their roles as the engineering duo Choi Kyung Goo and Park Jin Uhn. Shin Jae Ha joins the cast as the innocent On Ha Joon, a new driver at Rainbow Taxi.
Once the reading officially began, the set was instantly full of the representative thrill and catharsis of “Taxi Driver.” The set was especially explosive when Lee Je Hoon said his trademark line “5283, we are open for business.” Despite it just being a reading, the various car chase scenes and action sequences were said to have felt incredibly vivid and even more exciting than those of Season 1. Additionally, viewers should look forward to the Rainbow Taxi team’s upgraded teamwork and the cast’s talented acting.
To fans, Lee Je Hoon commented, “It’s such an honor to be able to return as driver Kim Do Gi, and I’ve been earnestly waiting for this moment. I’m so happy that we’re back in business. I will film with a happy heart and do my best to show viewers a fun and fiery drama.”
“Taxi Driver 2” is set to premiere on February 17 at 10 p.m. KST.
