tvN’s “Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born” has shared a sneak peek of Kim Tae Ri’s and Shin Ye Eun’s separate performances from its next episode!
Based on a popular webtoon, “Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born” is a drama set in the 1950s, shortly after the Korean War. Kim Tae Ri stars as the titular Jeong Nyeon, a young vocal prodigy who dreams of becoming a top traditional theater actor.
On the previous episode of “Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born,” Jeong Nyeon—who hadn’t given up on her dream—finally received her mother’s approval to pursue a career in traditional theater. Meanwhile, the Maeran troupe fell into shock when its biggest star, Moon Ok Kyung (Jung Eun Chae), suddenly announced that she was retiring at the end of their premiere performance.
In newly released stills from the drama’s upcoming episode, both Jeong Nyeon and Yeong Seo (Shin Ye Eun) take to the streets to perform beneath a banner that reads, “One day only! A free performance by a rising star from the Maeran traditional theater troupe.” However, they stage their free performances separately, in different locations—and to very different crowds.
Yeong Seo, who wears a fine hanbok and waves a fan with a confident smile, seems to have left behind the pressure that she used to feel on stage. As she enjoys the cheers of the massive crowd that has gathered to watch her, it’s clear that she has entered a new chapter in her journey as a performer.
On the other hand, there are very few onlookers at Jeong Nyeon’s free performance. As Jeong Nyeon holds her fan tightly in her hands and faces the empty crowd before her, it remains to be seen whether she will be able to successfully finish performing despite recently losing her voice.
To find out why Yeong Seo and Jeong Nyeon end up staging these street performances—and whether Jeong Nyeon will be able to finish hers—catch the next episode of “Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born” on November 16 at 9:20 p.m. KST!
