Ha Yun Kyung has shared insights into her character in Disney+’s upcoming drama “Gangnam B-Side”!
“Gangnam B-Side” is a crime drama about a detective, a prosecutor, and a mysterious broker, each following different leads to find Jae Hee, the missing ace of a club. Directed and written by Park Nu Ri, known for the film “Money,” the series stars Jo Woo Jin, Ji Chang Wook, Ha Yun Kyung, and BIBI.
Ha Yun Kyung stars as Min Seo Jin, a prosecutor with no connections who must navigate her way through the organization while balancing her ambitions for success and her duty to uphold justice. Known for her bright and lovable characters in previous works such as “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” and “See You in My 19th Life,” Ha Yun Kyung is set to portray a sharp and cold persona in this series, marking a complete 180-degree transformation.
Describing her character, Ha Yun Kyung shared, “Min Seo Jin is like ‘cold fire.’ She harbors a burning ambition inside but hides it behind a cold exterior,” hinting that her mysterious character will become increasingly intriguing as the story unfolds.
Director Park Nu Ri then revealed an interesting casting story, saying, “Min Seo Jin was originally written as an older character, but I wanted to work with Ha Yun Kyung so much that I changed the character’s age.”
In response, Ha Yun Kyung threw herself into the role with remarkable dedication. She explained, “I met with real prosecutors to get advice and gain insight. To capture the tough, overworked life of a prosecutor, I also avoided makeup and kept my wardrobe minimal to focus on authenticity and realism.”
Director Park Nu Ri also praised Ha Yun Kyung’s professionalism, affectionately calling her the “dialogue genius,” saying, “She not only memorized all of her complex lines perfectly but also delivered them flawlessly through her acting.”
Co-star Jo Woo Jin, who plays detective Kang Dong Woo, added, “At times, she felt like an older sister. She’s an honest and upright actor.”
“Gangnam B-Side” is set to premiere on November 6.
