Band Member Takes “The King Of Mask Singer” By Surprise With His Sweet Vocals
Dec 9, 2018
An idol band member demonstrated his singing talents on MBC’s “The King of Mask Singer”!
On the December 9 broadcast, contestants “Haetae” and “Phoenix” faced off in the first round. Together, they showcased a fun and mellow cover of UN’s classic hit “Wave” and comfortably demonstrated high levels of vocal ability.
Spoiler
“Haetae” took the round win with 58 points to 41 points. “Phoenix” had to unmask himself, and did so while singing The Name’s “Please Find Her.” He took the panel by complete surprise when he turned out to be FTISLAND’s bassist and sub-vocalist Lee Jae Jin!
When the host brought up how Lee Jae Jin wrote his goal on the show was “to get as many solo head shots as possible,” the FTISLAND member explained, “There’s something I’m a little disgruntled about. We may be the same band, but when you think of a band, [unlike] the drummer, vocalist, and guitarist with a solo part, usually bassists don’t have any special parts from a casual viewer’s perspective. So on music shows, I’ll appear alone for maybe 0.1 seconds or 0.5 seconds. Through this opportunity, I wanted to show everyone what I looked like and would be grateful if they remember me at least once.”
At the panel’s high praise, Lee Jae Jin playfully added, “Could I say something? It seems like everyone thinks I seem pitiful.” He reassured, “I’m always performing and touring very happily. Just like what everyone has said and encouraged, I will also work hard to appear more.”
