4 Moments Of Confliction For Kim Jae Joong & Jin Se Yeon In Episodes 9-10 Of "Bad Memory Eraser"

A heated tension is building up for both Lee Kun (Kim Jae Joong) and Kyung Joo Yeon (Jin Se Yeon) as they continue facing hurdles, one after another. Despite trying to move forward—both aiming to reach their personal goals—it looks like they are bound to find complications along the way. Whether it is their inner struggles or open fights with third parties, the yet-to-be couple still has a lot to figure out before they can dive into their romantic era. It makes you wonder if they’ll ever get to enjoy a sweet romance before the end of the show. However, it is inevitable to root for them while seeing how they cope with everything. So here are four moments in which they had some conflicts in the most recent episodes of “Bad Memory Eraser.”

1. Lee Kun suspecting Kyung Joo Yeon of hiding the truth

As we already know, Lee Kun is trying to figure out what exactly happened to him and why it looks like everyone, including Kyung Joo Yeon, is so adamant about not letting him find out the truth. To Joo Yeon, it is vital that he doesn’t regain his memories, since it involves the success of the medical trial that is still ongoing; however, as she gets closer to Lee Kun, in her heart, the weight of her actions starts to be too much to handle. It’s to the point that she doubts whether she did the right thing by erasing his memories. 

Despite the pain it’s causing him, he still wants to get back that missing part of his past. For better or for worse, memories are what make us who we are, and for Lee Kun, those memories are something only he can decide to let go of. More than anything, him yet again experiencing betrayal from the people he loves the most might be the real reason behind him regaining his memories. However, this is something only Lee Kun himself can answer. Given the fact that not even he can figure it out by himself, the only clue left to discover the truth behind everything is his missing diary. 

2. Lee Shin trying to prevent Lee Kun from meeting Jeon Se Yan

If there’s someone who has been stirring up conflict throughout the drama, it’s definitely Lee Shin (Lee Jong Won). Though he has been showing great concern for his brother’s happiness, there are so many questions about his real character that are still unanswered. For starters, he is still the primary suspect behind Lee Kun’s accident, though we have yet to understand exactly what happened. Also, despite knowing Joo Yeon is developing feelings for his brother, he keeps pursuing her under the premise that she isn’t Lee Kun’s real first love. 

So when he sees that Jeon Se Yan (Yang Hye Ji), who might trigger his brother’s memories, is getting closer to Lee Kun, he tries his best to get rid of her. But Se Yan isn’t exactly an easy target and tries her best to stay in Korea to find someone dear to her. The funny thing is, at the end of episode 10, we learn that Se Yan isn’t looking for Lee Kun nor her first love but for her biological father. With this information, at least for now, we can be sure that she won’t be an obstacle between Joo Yeon and Lee Kun in the future. But will Lee Shin turn into a problem for them later on? 

3. Kyung Joo Yeon fighting her feelings for Lee Kun 

Though some of the characters in this K-drama have to deal with conflicts outside of their control, Kyung Joo Yeon has to deal with most of the problems within herself. Firstly, she has to figure out the trauma that she has from her infancy related to her father. And on the other hand, she has to fight the feelings that she is developing for Lee Kun. Her professional self is struggling to see him only as the subject of her medical trial, and her heart has definitely started to see him as something more. 

The more she spends time with Lee Kun, the more her feelings get involved. It’s to the point that she wants to learn more about his childhood, comfort him, and know about his feelings. But she is a contradictory character. Whether it is because she doesn’t have experience in matters of the heart, or because she doesn’t want to let her feelings win over her mind, in these couple of episodes we got to see how she really struggles with her confusion and uncertainty.

4. Lee Kun and Kyung Joo Yeon having a heart-to-heart 

If Joo Yeon doesn’t have the clarity of mind to speak up about her feelings, luckily Lee Kun does. True to himself, he doesn’t hesitate to open up his heart, and he expresses the feelings he has been trying to suppress to keep going with his life. He is still in love with Joo Yeon, who he believes to be his first love. And finally, his relentless determination pays off after 10 episodes, when they share their very first kiss in the same place where Lee Kun met his true first love. 

Once again, as complicated as it can be for these two to come to terms with their feelings, you can’t help but root for them. There are still so many things to come as there are too many unresolved issues and untold truths within the plot for them to have their happy ending. However, let’s hope that when the time comes, their hearts are still fully open to one another and their time together can be as happy as possible in the upcoming episodes of “Bad Memory Eraser.”
